from our thoughts <strong>of</strong> Christ's temptations.^<br />

To obtain, if we can, a clearer underst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>of</strong><br />

this subject, two points must be kept in view.<br />

Christ's was real, though unftllen Human Nature ;<br />

<strong>and</strong> Christ's Human was in inseparable union with<br />

His Divine Nature. We are not attempting to<br />

explain <strong>the</strong>se mysteries, nor at present to vindicate<br />

<strong>the</strong>m; we are only arguing from tiie st<strong>and</strong>point <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Grospels <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> Apostolic teaching, which<br />

proceeds on <strong>the</strong>se premisses—<strong>and</strong> proceeding on<br />

<strong>the</strong>m, we are trying to underst<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Temptation<br />

<strong>of</strong> Christ. Now it is dear, that human nature, that <strong>of</strong><br />

Adam before his fall, was created both sinless <strong>and</strong><br />

peccable. If Christ's Human Nature was not like<br />

ours, but, morally, like thali <strong>of</strong> Adam before his<br />

fall, <strong>the</strong>n must it likewise have been both sinless
