search out,' who in it was ^ worthy,' <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m to<br />

ask hospitality; not seeking during <strong>the</strong>ir stay a<br />

change for <strong>the</strong> gratification <strong>of</strong> vanity or for selfindulgence.<br />

Lord would none <strong>the</strong> less own <strong>the</strong> words <strong>of</strong> His<br />

messengers <strong>and</strong> mako <strong>the</strong>m real; only, in such case<br />

<strong>the</strong> peace would return to <strong>the</strong>m who had spoken it.<br />

Tet ano<strong>the</strong>r case was possible. <strong>The</strong> house to which<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir inquiries had led <strong>the</strong>m, or <strong>the</strong> city into which<br />

<strong>the</strong>y had entered, might refuse to receive <strong>the</strong>m,
