leads from Samaria to <strong>the</strong> Jordan. Here he<br />

open valley surrounded by desolate <strong>and</strong> shapeless<br />

hills/ with <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Salim three miles south <strong>of</strong><br />

north <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> streanL Against this <strong>the</strong>re are,<br />

however, two objections. First, both JSnon <strong>and</strong><br />

Salim would have been in Samaria. Secondly, so<br />
