<strong>the</strong> reaper <strong>of</strong> his sowing, found a true application.<br />

It was indeed so, that <strong>the</strong> servants <strong>of</strong> Christ were<br />

sent to reap what o<strong>the</strong>rs had sown, <strong>and</strong> to enter<br />

into <strong>the</strong>ir labour. One had sowed, ano<strong>the</strong>r would<br />

reap. And yet, as in this instance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Samaritans,<br />

<strong>the</strong> sower would rejoice as well as <strong>the</strong> reaper ;<br />

nay, both would rejoice toge<strong>the</strong>r, in <strong>the</strong> ga<strong>the</strong>red<br />

fruit unto eternal life« And so <strong>the</strong> sowing in tears<br />

is on <strong>the</strong> spiritual field <strong>of</strong>ten mingled with <strong>the</strong><br />

harvest <strong>of</strong> gladness, <strong>and</strong> to <strong>the</strong> spiritual view both<br />

are really one. *Four months' do not intervene<br />

between .<strong>the</strong>m; so that, although one may sow <strong>and</strong><br />

ano<strong>the</strong>r reap, yet <strong>the</strong> sower seeth that harvest for<br />

which <strong>the</strong> harvester gets wages, <strong>and</strong> rejoices with<br />

liim in <strong>the</strong> fruit which is ga<strong>the</strong>red into <strong>the</strong> eternal<br />

storehouse.<br />

It was as Christ had said. <strong>The</strong> Samaritans, who<br />

believed * because <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> word ' (speech) * <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

woman [what she said] as she testified ' <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Christ, * when <strong>the</strong>y came ' to that well, * asked<br />

Him to abide with <strong>the</strong>m. And He abode <strong>the</strong>re two
