slightly elongate, sides oblique ; humeral carina suddenly con­<br />

stricted, thence fine for the remainder of its length ; elytral pale<br />

fascia. not crossed by yellowish lines, as well as in the other gen­<br />

eric traits. From t"odens it is very distinct in elytral coloration<br />

and in being irregularly, not seriately, punctate on base of elytra.<br />

MALE. Elongate-ovatc, robust, 5ubcylindric:ll, clytra subconvex; head and<br />

pronotum piceous, elytra dark brown or dark reddisb-brown. Head above pale<br />

grayish-yellow pubescent, with seattercd, very small, round, brown maculae, these<br />

somewhat confluent on vertex and behind posterior margin of lower lobe of eycs;<br />

front gray-yellow pubescent, at middle with a transverse macula of gray, remainder<br />

of surface with few small, rounded, brown maculae. Pronotum gmy-yellow pubescent,<br />

with a. large, grayish macula at middle, which is much nearer b.1Se than apex,<br />

remainder of surface with many, small, round, brown maculae, more or less coalescent.<br />

Scutellum gray-yellow pubesceut, with a large macula of dark brown at<br />

middle. Elytm deeper gray-yellow pubescent., extreme base and a. broad fascia at<br />

middle which is oblique anteriorly, grayish or white, remainder of surface with scattered<br />

patches of dark brown pubescenc, apical quarter with much white pubescence<br />

interspersed. Beneath durk reddish-brown, whitish pubescent, with small, scattered,<br />

glabrous areas; metasternum Dnrrowiy gray-yellow laterally; each stemite, except<br />

fifth, laterally with a medium-sized, irregular, glabrous macula the posterior margin<br />

of which is gray-yellow, sometimes continued ncross the apical margin of each segment<br />

except fifth; fifth with a transverse, irregular, glabrous area. medially. Legs<br />

dark reddish-brown, thinly gray pubescent, with small, glabrous patch interspersed<br />

and indistinct touches of gray-yellow on femora; claw segment of tarsi very<br />

pale on basal half. Antennae dark reddish-brown, bases of fourth, fifth, and sixth<br />

segments very pale (remainder missing); thinly clothed with pale gray and with<br />

seattered, small patches of dark brown pubescence.<br />

Rend above minutely alutaceous, witb a median impressed line from occiput to<br />

near epistoma; front widened somewhat below eyes, surface finely alutaceous; genae<br />

elongate, sparsely pubescent, surface finely, densely punctnte; eye with lower lobe<br />

oblong, subequal to gena in length; antennal tubercles distant, prominent, produced<br />

at apex into a short, robust, obtuse process, directed upward and only slighUy inward.<br />

Pronotum transverse, base OlllY slightly wider than apex; sides feebly arcuate,<br />

lateral tubercles feebly elevated; a basal and an apical sulcus, apical very<br />

shallow, basal oblique laterally; disk with surface tumid but smooth, base nnd lateral<br />

tubercles with setigerous punctate-granules. Elytra with sides straight, very feebly<br />

attenuate; apices separately rounded; e:Lch elytron at base with a broad, feebly<br />

elevated, more or less arcuate gibbosity, tbe outer margin of which is outlined by a<br />

broad, decp sulcus which beoomes broadest at posterior end of gibbosity; entire<br />

ba.sal third with close·se, coarse punctures, remainder of elytra nearly impunctate;<br />

humeri prominent, anterior margin nearly straight, not tubercled at !lngle, the carina<br />

extending posteriorly, suddenly constricted shortly behind angle, fine to middle of<br />

elytra. Prosternum gradually widened behind middle; mesosternal process feebly<br />

cmarginate meditilly at apex; fifth sternite about one-third again as long tlS fourth,<br />

at apex subtruncate. Proeoxae globose, unanned; profernora robust, gradually<br />

clavate, rugose above and below, remaining surface alutaceoUii; meso- and metafemora<br />

less robust and more abruptly clavate; met.'ltibiae strongly dilated on apical
