the tubercle not elevated, continued as a carina along posterior margin but not onto<br />

disk. Prosternum unarmed, fecbly expanded each side at middle into a broad, in­<br />

distinct process. Procoxae slightly tumid behind, anteriorly armed witb a strong<br />

uncus; the profemora robust, as broad ncar base as at apex, beneath finely, trans­<br />

versely rugose, other femora clavate; metatibiae gradually and distincUy expanded<br />

to apex. Fifth sternite half against 8S long as fourth, broadly emarginal.c at apex.<br />

Antennae one and one-half times body length, shortly fimbriate beneath on four<br />

proximal segments; scape robust, gradUAlly thickened, oapitate on apical half,<br />

basal half almost entirely eoveroo. with coarse, transverse rugosities ; third segment<br />

distinctly longer than first, biflexuose; rest gradually shorter; eleventh about<br />

as long as tenth, with a recurved process at its tip.<br />

FEMALE. Similar to male but antennal tubercles not dentnte at apex; pro­<br />

coxae armed with only n small tubercle anteriorly; prafemorn. not robust basally<br />

lind smooth beneath; metatibille unmodified; fifth sternite twice length of fourth,<br />

apex narrow and slightly arcuate, at middle triangularly and deeply impressed;<br />

antennae very little longer th:m body, scape quite slender and not rugose, eleventh<br />

wit-hout a prOCe53 at tip.<br />

LENGTH 16-18.5 mm.; width 7.5-8.5 mm.<br />

Somewhat related to H .. gibberaJ but has the pronotum entirely<br />

hoary pubescent ; elytl'a with gibbosities less elevated, broad ; abdomen<br />

entirely hoary, medially piceous, shining; alltennae with<br />

third segment slenderer, more strongly sinuate.<br />

FEMALF.. EIongatc-ovatc, robust, convex; fuscous, middle of pronotum and<br />

humeri piceous, rest of clytra dark reddish-brown; thinly covered with rather<br />

long pubescence, n.s follows : Head above nnd front brown or fulvous, toward the<br />

sides of occiput variegated with hoary. Pronotum largely llOary, with n vitta of<br />

denser pubescence above each hind :mgle, and on the anterior one.3, apicnlly variegated<br />

with fulvOWl or brownish. Scutellum entirely hoary. El ytra golden-fulvous<br />

basally, at least toward humeri, variegated with hoary, before apex ne:tr suture<br />

an irregular white patch, surrounding wllieh are numerous points of tho same color;<br />

sides entirely variegated with hoary. Body beneath and legs dark reddish-brown,<br />

irregularly and thinly covered with hoary pubescence; abdomen fuscous, later!llly<br />

broadly vittate with hoary, the vittne more or 1e53 denuded medially, on fifth<br />

sternitc replaced by brownish pubescence; tarsal £lll\w segments not annulate.<br />

Antennae dark reddish-brown, covered with short, fulvous or brown puhc:cence.
