at apex ; procoxae in male with a small, distinct tubercle j metati­<br />

biae very strongly expanded in male, not distinctly annulate j all<br />

femora distinctly annulate on anterior face; abdomen medially<br />

gray and dark brown pubescent, the former predominating j an­<br />

tennae with scape more robust in male; eye with lower lobe as<br />

long as gena in male.<br />

MALE. Elongate-ovate, robust; fuscous, densely covered with hoary or pale<br />

fulvous-gray pubescence on head, pronotum, scutellum, and basal sixth of elytrn.<br />

Head with six irregular, brown vittae, one each side of middle and two less<br />

distinct ODes behind each eye; front largely dark brown pubescent, hoary bima­<br />

culate at center, and slightly variegated above with same color. Pronotum tinged<br />

with brown and fulvous, slight.ly mottled wit.h brown, leaving two viUae on each<br />

side and a lilllaU macula each side of middle toward base, hoary. Scutellum slightly<br />

tinged with fulvous. Elytral base only feebly tinged with fulvous; surface. from<br />

basal si."tb dark brown pubescent, sparsely sprinkled witb fine, hoary dots, which<br />

often coalesce to form irregular lines. Body beneath dark reddish-brown to fuscous,<br />

sparsely hoary pubescent medially, laterally broadly fulvous or becoming brownish;<br />

abdomen medially gray and dark brown, the former predominating. Legs as in<br />

chaseba but all femora annulate (or banded) wit.h fulvous on anterior faces.<br />

Antennae as in the saille species.<br />

Head above minutely, densely alutaceousj front elongate, only slightly nar­<br />

rowed between eyes, narrowly concave between antennal tubercles, a few fine<br />

punctures showing between pubescence; gcnae elongate, vertical, broader than in<br />

chaseba; eye with lower lobe elongate oblong, equal in height to gena ; antennal<br />

tubercles robust, prominent, slightly ",eparated, armed at apex with a long tooth.<br />

Pronotum as in chaseba. Scutellum nearly semi-circular. Elytra distinctly at;..<br />

tcnuate to apices, which are separately, broadly rounded; basal gibbosities broader<br />

than in chaseba, the granules finer, very fine near suture, appearing nearly as punc<br />

tures there; humeri distinctly, but slightly projec:ting, anterior margin straight,<br />

oblique, lingle with a large, rounded tubercle, the carina very short or obsolete.<br />

Prosternum simple, rather narrow; mesosternal process broad, slightly transverse,<br />

apex deeply emarginat.e. Fifth sternite one-half longer than fourth, apex broadly<br />

truncate. Procoxae with a smail, distinct tubercle; femora rather slender, slightly<br />

clavate, profemora very robust, subeylindrieal, finely rugose on lower and upper<br />

faces ; metatibiae strongly expanded apically. Antennae longer than body (want;..<br />

ing from sixth segment) scape attaining apical third of pronotum, robust, strongly<br />

and gradually clavate from base, coarsely rugose on basal half; third segment two­<br />

fifths longer than scape, distinctly sinuous.<br />

FEMALE. More robust than male; front broader; antennal tubercles less<br />

prominent, nearly unarmcd; eye with lowcr lobe shorter than gel1a ; elytra less<br />

strongly tapering to apices; fifth stamite nearly twice length of fourth, slightly<br />

emargina.te at apex, strongly impressed medially ; procoxae slightly tumid anteriorly,<br />

not tubereulate; profemora slender, clavate, not rugosej metatibiae not much<br />

expanded apically; antennae slightly shorter than body, scape clavate on apical<br />

half, slender basally, not rugose.<br />

LENGTH 15-16 mm.; width 6.5-7 mm.
