Closest to H. opal-ina, but elytra with basal gibbosity small,<br />
not elongate, straight ; humeri more projecting, with a prominent<br />
tubercle j eyes with lower lobes oblong-ovate j first abdominal ster<br />
nite gray pubescent on entire basal half; and pronotum with latenI<br />
diseal tubercles not well defined nor separated .<br />
:MALE. Elong.'lte-ovatc, rnther slender, subcylindrical, clytra subconvex; black,<br />
gmyish-brown pubescent. Head and pronotum irregularly varied with pale gray<br />
or whitish pubescence. Scutellum broadly margined laterally with gray. Elytra<br />
with basal third only slightly varied with gray or whitish pubescence, remaining<br />
two-thirds irregularly streaked with ashy. Beneath [uscous, with tawny-white<br />
pubescence, this fanning a broad lateral vitta either side of abdomen from apical<br />
half of third scgmcnt, broadly ghbrous medially; sides of mesosternum and metc<br />
pistcrna anteriorly grnyish-brown pubescent. Legs black or fuscous, tawny-white<br />
pubescent, slightly variegated with grayish-brown; base of tarBal claw segment<br />
pale gray pubescent. Antennae fuscous or piceous; scape thinly gray pubescent.,<br />
apically brown; third segment on basal half gray, apically brown, remaining seg<br />
ments with basal third gray, apical two-tllirds brown.<br />
Head above finely, densely punctate, a median impressed line from occiput to<br />
near epistoma; front with sidcs lIearly parallel, finely, delLcely punctate; antennal<br />
tubercles subapproximatc, prominent, produced at apex into a short, erect, subacute<br />
process; genae elongate, alutaceous, feebly pubescent ; eyes with lower lobe oblong<br />
ovate, about two-thirds genal height. Pronotum transverse; sides nearly straight,<br />
oblique, base wider than apex; with a basal and apical sulcus, the basal one oblique<br />
laterally; disk at middle with narrow, longitudinal tubercle, either side with a<br />
moderately elevated, rounded. tubercle. Scutellum transverse; sides nearly straight,<br />
oblique; apex subtruncate, fully notched at middle. Elytra with sides nearly<br />
straight., somewhat attenuate api(mlly, apices each rounded; base near scutellum<br />
with a feebly elongate gibbosity each side, between which are a few granules, the<br />
remaining portion is deeply, coarsely punctate; remainder of elytra co.usciy,<br />
moderately punctate, the punctures becoming only slightly smaller apically, but<br />
still retaining their depth; humeri strongly projecting, very oblique, forming n<br />
sharp angle with the posterior lIlargin, the angle bearing a large rounded tubercle,<br />
