Resembles H. miniata in elytral maculation but the surface<br />

sculpturing is much smoother, the pale pubescence is fulvous, not<br />

roseate j antennae very slender, much longer ; third and fourth seg<br />

ments not robust, the latter not broadly annulate j antennai born in<br />

male less robust, only sligbtly curved inwards.<br />

:MALE. Elongate-ovate, robust, subcyJindrical; fuscous, densely pubescent.<br />

He:td dull ochraceous or rufoochrnccous jlUUescent, above with six short brown<br />

vittae, eye posteriorly margined, genae with a narrow vitL1, and front laterally<br />

margined finely with denser pubescence; front near clypeus each side with a brown<br />

mncula. Pronotum mostly dull ochraccous or ochraceous-gray, variegated with<br />

deeper ochruccous; disk with a short, medi:tn, basal vitta and a broader, oblique<br />

-One at middle of e:lch side, brown, not very distinct. Scutellum with central area<br />

brown, rest pale ochraccous-gray. E1ytra brown pubescent, entire disk densely<br />

sprinkled with dull gray and ochraceous maculae intermixed, the btter often' form­<br />

ing more or less distinct vittae, behind humerus .'l. large triangular patch and at<br />

posterior two-fifths a narrow; irregular fascia, brown, free of maculae, the fascia<br />

anteriorly on dik irregularly margined with while. Body beneath dark rcddish<br />

brown, unevenly covered with hoary-gray pubescence; sterna laterally indistinctly<br />

maculate with ochraeeous ; abdomell paler, each side with two rows of indistinct<br />

maculflc of denser hoary pubescence, one row marginal, the other between this and<br />

middle. Legs fuscous, pale gray and brown pubescent; femora tinged and apically<br />

annulate with ochraceous. Antennae dark reddish-brown, covered with dull brown<br />

and gray pI bescencc, segments from fifth annulate with gray.<br />

Head minutely alutaceous, with a median line from occiput to clypeus; front<br />

broadly oblong, of nearly equal width throughout, broadly concave between an­<br />

tennal tubercles, minutely alutaceous and finely, sparsely punctate; genae verticaL<br />

minutely alutnccous, impunctate ; eye with lower lobe oblong, slightly exceeding<br />

gena in height; antennni tubercles prominent, robust, widely scparated, apices very<br />

briefly produced. Pronotum strongly transverse, distinctly narrowed at apex, Jat­<br />

eral tubercles broad, feeble, terminal process distinct, acute; apical and basal trans­<br />

verse sulci broad, shallow, the latter coalescing with the lateral oblique OIles; disk<br />

medially with a broad ovate turcle, each side with a circular tumescence, Bub­<br />

equal in height to median tuberclc, indistinctly impressed transversely, on basal<br />

halI a variable number of shallow, moderate-sized punctures. Scutellum strongly<br />
