angle nearly right angular, armed with a broad, feeble tubercle, from which a<br />
distinct carina extends posteriorly, attaining middle of elytra; sides punctate as<br />
disk. Prosternum medially with a broad, transverse process between coxae. Pro<br />
coxae tumid and transversely rugose behind, anteriorly with a broad, feeble tub<br />
ercle; femora robust, strongly clavate, profemora minutely alutacoous beneath at<br />
base; metafemorn, as well as middle ones, strongly thickened from before middle.<br />
Fifth sternite more than half again as long as iourth, apex narrowly retuse, medi<br />
ally with an elongate triangular impression. Antennae largely wanting; scape<br />
slender, gradually capitate on apical twofifths.<br />

Somewhat related to C. pallida but the median fascia of elytra<br />
is much less distinct; scape more robust, less abruptly clavate api<br />
cally ; eye slightly longer than gena ; antennal tubercles with the<br />
teeth very obtuse; and tarsi with claw segment at base pale red<br />
dishbrown.<br />
:MALE. Elongatc-ovate, robust, convex; dark reddishbrown or fuscous, covered<br />
with hoary-gray and fulvous pubescence, sometimes mottled. Head with eye<br />
narrowly margined with brighter fulvouB. Pronotum each side with a short streak<br />
of fulvou&-gray above hind angles and another on front angles. Elytra largely<br />
fulvOllS pubescent, medially with an indistinct, oblique, whitish fascia, which is<br />
sometimes interrupted; toward apex near suture an irregular, large patch of<br />
white. Body beneath reddish-brown, densely covered with fulvousgray pubes<br />
cence, somewhat indistinct.ly mottled with darker, at middle entirely hoary pubes<br />
cent; abdomen medially fulvous-grIlY, more strongly mottled than sterna, laterally<br />
indistinctly vittate with brighter fulvous. Legs reddish-brown, thinly clothed<br />
with grayish and fulvous pubescence; tibiae very indistinctly annulate at middle<br />
with grllyish pubescence; tarsal claw segments on apical half fuscous, the base deep<br />
rosy. Antennae fuscous, dark brown pubescent, variegated slightly with hoary<br />
pubescence; basal two-fifths of third and following segments pale rosy-yellow,<br />
thinly grayish pubescent.<br />
Head minutely, densely punctate, with a fine median line from occiput nearly<br />
to epistoma; front narrowly concave between antennal tubercles, minutely, densely<br />
punctate, with sparse, fine punctures interspersed; genae slightly elongate, ver<br />
tical, sparsely and coarsely punctate; eye with lower lobe oblong, slightly longer<br />
than gena ; antennal tubercles well separated, prominent, at apex with a feeble,<br />
obtuse tooth. Pronotum strongly transverse, sides feebly arcuate, unarmed, nar<br />
rowing to apex ; apical transverse sulcus rather deep, basal one shallower, con<br />
llooting with the lateral oblique ones, which are also shallow; disk finely and sparsely
