the fonner at sides margined with ochraceous. Pronotum largely ochracoous, basal<br />

balf mostly white. Scutellum glabrous at middle, rest tmnly ochraceous pubescent,<br />

the margins touched with white. Elytra covered with ochr3ceous and white pubes·<br />

cence, mottled irregularly with dark brown, before middle an indistinct b3nd of thi s<br />

s.1me color, behind this a distinet band of white, running from n tUe li before middle<br />

of sides to just behind middle of suture and traversed by several ochr3ccous vittae,<br />

suture largely white, in many places on elytra the pubescence is arranged to form<br />

more or less distinct vittae. Body beneath dark reddish brown, sparsely white<br />

pubescent, varieg3ted slightly with ochraccous ; abdominal sternites one to four<br />

more or less margined with ochracoous on apices, especially laterally, but without<br />

distinct maculae of ally sort. Legs reddish-brown, sparsely white and ochraceous<br />

pubescent; tarsal claw segment with bas9.l half yellowish, covered with pubescence,<br />

apical half brown, with dark brown pubescence. Antennae dark reddish-brown,<br />

bases of segments from fourth pale reddish (third segment basally slightly paler th:m<br />

aiJically) ; dark brown pubescent, pale bases sparscly white pubescent; proximal<br />

three segments variegated with ochraceous and whitc.<br />

Head minutely, densely alutaceous, with a median impressed line from occiput<br />

to epistorna; front as wide above as below, sides feebly arcuate, betwoon antennal<br />

tubercles feebly concave, minute1y aiutaceous, impunctnte; genae elongate, vertical,<br />

finely and sparsely punct.ate; eye witb lower lobe oblong-ovate, small, betwoon three­<br />

fifths and two-fifths the height of gcna; antennal tubercles prominent, robust, well­<br />

separated, not anned at ape.x. Pronotum strongly transverse, nearly twice as wide<br />

as long, sides feebly wi dened from base to beforo middle, then narrowed to apex,<br />

which is distinctly narrower than base, unarmed; npic..'1l trullSverse sulcus obsolete,<br />

visible only latcmlly, ba;:al one broad, shallow, terminating in a more or lCS3 distinct<br />

fovea cach side, lateral oblique sulci feeble; disk entirely tumid, without visible<br />

tubercles, finely, sparsely punctate. Scutellum transverse; sides nearly straight,<br />

oblique; apex brOl1dly rounded. Elytra only slightly narrowed to apices, which are<br />

separately rounded; disk coarsely, densely punct·atc to slightly beyond middle,<br />

thence punctUr03 flfle aDd obsolescent to apex; humeri prominent, anterior margin<br />

rounded, slightly oblique, angle not tubereulatc but with two carinae, the uppennost<br />

of these more distinct, ascending, then running posteriorly to just beyond middle<br />

(sometimes obsoletely extended behind this point), the lower one distinct for a short<br />

distance, then interrupted by some coarse punctures, after which it continues Jess<br />

distinctly almost 00 apex; sides below humeri more cO:J.rscly punctate than disk,<br />

with a trace of a. third carina present. Presternum rather brond, widened gradu­<br />

ally behind. Procoxae tumid posteriorly, unarmed before; femora clavate, profemora<br />

not rugose. Fifth sternite one :J.nd two·t-hirds times the length of the fourth, apex<br />

broadly emarginate, disk with a. deep, oval impression at middle. Antennae sub·<br />

equal to body in length, with sparse, long, fringing hairs beneath to apex; scape<br />

arcuate, rather robust, not quite attaining middle of pronotll:lll, elavate from basal<br />

third, densely punctate, no at all rugosc; third segment one-quarter longer than<br />

first, strongly sinuate; fourth equal to first, rest gradually shorter.<br />

LENGTH 10-11 rom.; width 4-4.5 IDlD.<br />

Type locality.-Sao Paulo, Brazil.<br />

Distribution.-Southeastern Brazil and Paraguay.
