broad, feebly nrcuatc. Elytra with sides feebly narrower apically, apices each nar­<br />

rowly rounded ; basal gibbosity slightly prominent, rather broad but short, the<br />

entire basal brown area coarsely, densely punctate, posteriorly punctures suddenly<br />

finer and sparser, obsolete before apex; humeri slightly projecting, anterior margin<br />

straight, slightly oblique, angle wih a prominent, low tubercle from which extends a<br />

fine, straight carina to before middle; sides below humeri coarsely punctate to<br />

middle, thence finely and sparsely so. Procoxae anteriorly distinctly tubercuiate,<br />

the tubercle's proce:s long, obtusely conical; femora clavate, profemont robust,<br />

subcylindrical, contricted at baEe and apex, beneath entirely covered with fllle,<br />

irregular rugosities; meta tibiae strongly expanded apically. Firth stemite one and<br />

one-half times lengtli of fourth, apex hroadly arcuate, not impressed. Antennae<br />

three-fifths longer than body, seventh segment attaining e1ytral apex, first five prox­<br />

imal segments fimbriate beneath; scape robust, clavate strongly from near base,<br />

entire basal half (except above) coarsely, transversely rugose; tbird segment one­<br />

fourth longer than scape, strongly bent basally, apical curvature feeble; fourth<br />

and fifth successively shorter, rest subcqual.<br />

FEMALE. Differing from male only as in the generic description.<br />

LENGTH 9-13.5 mm.; width 3.3-5.3 rom.<br />

Holotype.-Male ; Barro Colorado Island, Panama Canal Zone,<br />

April-May, 1937, fruit-fiy trap ; (J. Zetek) ; [U.S.N.M. number<br />

57222].<br />

Allotype.-Female j topotypic, in branches of Triplaris c1'mingimla;<br />

(J. Zetek) ; [U.S.N.M.).<br />

TYPHLOCERUS Dillon and Dillon, gen. nov.<br />

Front elongate, sides parallel; eye flat, lower lobe elongateovate,<br />

nearly equal in height to gena; pronotulll conical, disk nearly<br />

smooth, with small, feebly elevated tubercles ; antennae annulate<br />

only on third, fifth, si.xth and tenth segments, feebly so on eleventh,<br />

scape elongate, attaining middle of pronotum, cylindrical, very<br />

gradually clavate to apex, third segment nearly straight, very<br />

feebly arcnate, subequal in length to first; elytra simply punctate<br />

on base, humeri very strongly elevated, emarginate at tip of elevation;<br />

and procoxae with a small tubercle ill female.<br />

Moderate-sized, elongate-ovate, roblliit, convex. HC3d with front elongate,<br />

sides parallel or nearly so; genae elongate; eye fiat, with lower lobe elongate, oval,<br />

subequal in height to gena ; antennal tubercles prominent, well separated, not pro­<br />

duced at apex (female) . Pronotum transverse, strongly conical, Ullarmed laterAlly;<br />

disk with five small, feebly elevated tubercles. Scutellum transverse. Elytra grad­<br />

ually attenuate apically, apices each broadly rounded ; basal gibbosity elongate,
