SULPITUS Dillon and Dillon, gen. nov.<br />

Somewhat related to Midamus, from which it is distinct as fol­<br />

lows : front elongate, sides narrowed below eyes j antenna1 tubercles<br />

somewhat more closely approximate; pronotum not deeply exca­<br />

vated on sides, at most only feebly impressed, unarmed ; elytra<br />

more strongly attenuate apically, basal gibbosities elongate, mOl'e<br />

strongly elevuted, disk distinctly granulate-punctate, humeri more<br />

strongly projecting, the anterior margin straight, oblique j procoxae<br />

uncate in male j and antennae about one and two-thirds times<br />

length of body in male, third segment nearly one-half longel' than<br />

first.<br />

Moderate-sized, elongate-ovate, rather robust. Head with front elongate,<br />

sides nearly parallel, feebly narrowed below eye; gena elongate; eye with lower<br />

lobe ovate, about equal to gena in height; antennal tubercles sub.'lpproximate,<br />

prominent, with an acute tooth at apex in male; entire head and pronotum covered<br />

with coarse punctures. Pronotum transverse, sides straight, nearly parallel, at<br />

base slighUy wider than at apex, unanned; apical transverse sulcus sinuate; disk<br />

with five small tubercles. Scutellum transverse. EIytra moderately attenuate to<br />

apices whieh are separately, narrowly rounded; basal gibbosities moderately elevated;<br />

disk on base granulate-punctate; bumeri rather projecting, anterior margin<br />

nearly straight, oblique, anglo with a large, obtuse tubercle, Prosternum simple,<br />

narrowed betwC{)n coxae ; tnesosterna process moderately broad, apex emargin:l.te.<br />

Legs rather short; procoxae globose, uncate in male; femora moderately clavate<br />

beyond middle, profemora rugose nt base in male; meso- and metatibiae dilated<br />

apically in male. Antennae about one ilnd two-thirds times length of body in male,<br />

with scape strongly clavate from apical third, nearly at.taining middle of pronotum;<br />

third segment sinuate, not slender, almost one-half again as long as first ; rest<br />

gradually shorter, eleventh feebly longer tban tenth in male, apical process nearly<br />

wanting.<br />
