rounded, with Ii large tubercled process which is distinctly bilobed. Procoxae<br />

tumid; profemora gradually clavate; metatibiae slightly clubbed apically. Fifth<br />

sternite about one-third longer than fourth, feebly emarginate apically, and shal­<br />

lowly, triangularly impressed. Antennae nearly as long as body; scape long, slen­<br />

der, capitate, finely, densely punctate, with a few scattered coarse punctures espe<br />

cially basally; third segment moderately sinuate.<br />

LENGTH 11-15 mm.; width 5-7 mm.<br />

Type locality.-Peru (cnda) j Cayenne (subfasciata) ; Ega (di.<br />

midiata).<br />

Distribution.-Guianas through the Amazon region into Peru.<br />

Closely related to C. cruda but differs in having pronotum en­<br />

tirely unarmed laterally, and all discal tubercles elongate; scutel­<br />

lum with apex much more strongly produced and elevated each<br />

side; elytra with basal gibbosities more prominent, punctation<br />

finer and sparser, median fascia narrow, not attaining suture, post­<br />

humeral carina distinct and attaining middl e ; and entire surface<br />

less visibly mottled.<br />

MALE. Elongate-ovate, robust, convex; fuscous or piceous, covered with dark<br />

brown pubescence and variegated with pale fulvous-gray. Head above largely<br />

fulvous-gray pubescent, each side of vertex usually with a slightly oblique streak<br />

of brown pubescence, widened gradually toward occiput, which it does not attain.<br />

Front and prothorax most.ly dark brown pubescent, variegated slightly with fulvous·<br />

gray, the latter especially so along base and apex. Sautellum tinged with fulvous·<br />

gray pubescence apically. Elytra thinly d!lrk grayish-brown pubescent on basal<br />

half, at middle of side margin an indistinct grayish spot, above and anterior to<br />

which, beginning at the lateral carina, is an arcuate, whit.ish line, thi s line runs<br />

obliquely beyond middle of disk, where there are several paler forks, then curves<br />

posteriorly, terminating at apical third, from the apical fourth sublaterally a less<br />

distinct, broken, undulating line ascends to the apex of the anterior streak, the<br />

endosed area indistinctly fulvous-grayish pubescent, streaked with brown, the<br />

entire apical region is fulvous-gray, irregularly mottled with brown. Body beneath<br />

fuscous, rather thinly fulvous-gray pubescent; abdomen medially covered with<br />

sparse, dark brown pubescence, with numerous hoary hairs interspersed, each side<br />

broadly vittate with fulvous, the vittae narrowed on first srernite and attaining<br />

the apex of fifth. Legs fuscous, thinly hoary pubescent; femora mottled irregularly<br />

and coarsely with dark brown, the apices fulvous; tarsi with claw segment rosy-
