Somewhat related to C. hebes but elytral median pale fascia is<br />

broader, more distinct ; basal half of third antennal segment and<br />

at least basal third of following segments pale; and humeri shortly<br />

carinate.<br />

MALE. Elongate-ovate, robust, convex; dark reddish-brown to fuscous, en­<br />

tirely covered with thin, dun grayish-brown pubescence. Head bclow eye, and front<br />

with indistinct m[lcube of paler pubescence. Pronotum sometimes with small,<br />

irregular maculae of paler pubescence. Elytra each just before middle with an<br />

oblique, strongly undulating line of creamy-white pubC.'Jcencc, extending toward,<br />

but not attaining, suture, und a shorter similar line at apical third, not oblique,<br />

atUlining middle of disk, between 1.he two lines are two indistinct, small macube,<br />

lying within the sinuaLions; a large irreb'Ular macula of hoary pubescence at suture<br />

just before apex; each with an indistinct brown band outlining front margin of<br />

median line and several short longitudinal lines and dots between apical line and<br />

apex. Body beneath reddish-brown, pale dull brownish-gray pubescent, with scat­<br />

tered, indistinct maculae of paler pubescence, one especially dist.inct on mesal end<br />

of mesepimera; abdomen fuscous, thinly clothed with short, dull grayish-brown<br />

pubescencc, laterally broadly vittate with fu]vous-gray, vitta narrow on first stcr­<br />

nite, sometimes with a transverse streak of same color on the third and fourth<br />

segments apically. Legs dark reddish-brown to fuscous, thinly and irregularly cov­<br />

ered with pale gray pube:cence; femora annulate at apex with fu]vous-gray; tarsal<br />

claw segment with basal half testaceous. Antennae fuscous or black; basal half of<br />

third segmcnt and bases of following segments distinctly yellowish or roseate;<br />

clothed with dark grayish-brown pubescence, hoary pubescent on pale portions<br />

and on basal two-thirds of scapc and on cntire second scgment.<br />

Head minutely, dene1y punctate, '\'jth a fine median line from occiput to<br />

epistorna; front narrowly concave between antennal tubercles, densely, minutely<br />

punctate, with a number of scattered, modcrately coarse punctures interspersed;<br />

genae vertical, minutely alutaceous and with a few coarse punctures more or less<br />

seriate, sparsely pubescent ; eye with lower lobe broadly oblong, distinctly shorter<br />

than gcna; antennal tubercles subapproximate, prominent, shortly, robustly dcntate<br />

at apex. Pronot.um transverse; sides nearly straight, gradually narrowed anter­<br />

iorly, unarmed; disk with five prominent tubercles, the median one least elevated,<br />

wider behind, lateral ones least elongate, slightly oblique, a few coarse punctures<br />

basally; apical transverse sulcus distinct, straight, basal sulcus shallow, rather broad,<br />

short, connecting with the equally shallow lateral oblique sulci. Scutellum trans­<br />

verse ; sides straight, strongly ob liquc; apex rounded, wit-h a strong projection<br />

or tubercle each side, Elytra with sides nearly straight, feebly attenuate, apices<br />

each broadly rounded ; base of each disk behind scutellum brondly and moder­<br />

ately gibbosc, entire basal half with irregularly scattered, rather close, coarse. very<br />

shallow punctures, apically with several feeblc costne; humeri prpminent., oblique,<br />

with Il. broad, feebly elevated tubercle at the angle, from this tubercle e:-.iencis a<br />

short distinct carina, running briefly oblique, thcn directed posteriorly, its entire<br />

length only slightly greater than anterior margin of humerus; sides below humeri
