glabrous, each side with two lines of maculae of denser pubescence, one row marg·<br />

inal, the other half way between it and middle. Legs fUSCQllS, hoary pubescent,<br />

variegated with brown; tarsal claw segment reddi shbrowll, hoary and brown<br />

pubescent, towards apex more or less glabrous. Antennae fuscous, covered with<br />

dark brown puoosc{!Dce, mottled finely with hoary, bases of scgmcnt.!l from fourth<br />

narrowly but distinct-ly hoary ftnnulnte, on third indistinctly so; scnpe variegated<br />

with hO!l.ry, fulvous, and brown.<br />

Head mi nutely, densely punctalc, with a median impressed line from occiput<br />

to clypeus; front slightly higher than wide, not narrowed above, broadly concave<br />

between antennal tubereies, minutely, densely punctate and with fine punctures<br />

interspersed; genae vertical, minutely, rugosely punctate ; eye with lower lobe<br />

obtong-ovate, distinctly shorter tlUl]) gcnae in height; antennal tubercles prominent,<br />

robust, widely separated, armed at apex with a short, obtuse tooth. Pronotum<br />

strongly transverse, nearly twiee as broad as long, sides broadly rounded, constricted<br />

at apex, lateral tubercles broad, feebly elevated, terminatillg in a long,<br />

rohust, obtuse spine which is dcpresed ill cross-section; apical transverse sulcus<br />

deep, nearly straight, basal one unequally impressed; disk medially with a broad,<br />

triangular tubercle, reaching from anterior sulcus to basal one, eaeh side strongly<br />

tumid, the tumescences more or ie:!S divided by a nearly transverse impression, only<br />

a few scattered punct-ures b!l83l1y. Scutellum strongly transverse; sides straight,<br />

oblique; apex bro:tdly rounded, notched at middle. Elytra with sides only slightly<br />

narrowed apically, apices separately rounded ; basal gibbosity prominent, elongate,<br />

outlined laterally and broadly posteri.orly by an impression, rest of disk thence with<br />

irregular elevations or costae, entire anterior hnlf behind extreme base coarsely,<br />

closely punctate, slightly rugose towards middle, behind middle punctures gradually<br />

finer and sparser to apex; humeri prominent, anterior margin straight, oblique, the<br />

angle with a rather large rounded tubercle; sides behind humeri very slighUy rugo...
