Distinguished by the small size; the elytl'a elongate, their sides<br />

straight, gradually tapering apically, disk simply punctate j pronohllIl<br />

narrower at apex, subcylindricaJ, sides unarmed; antennae<br />

with scnpe rather cylindrical, gradually clavate apically, third<br />

segment slender, feebly sinuous j humeri somewhat clawed in appearance,<br />

anterior margin being arcuate and oblique, the angle<br />

with a small tubercle.<br />

Elong.:tte-ovnte, moderately robust, small or moderate-sized; fu$Cous or dark<br />

reddish-brown. Head with front about as brood as high, slightly narrowed below<br />

from lower margin of eye; gena. elongate; eye with lower lobe elongntc-ovate,<br />

slightly shorter than gena in height; antennal tubercles moderately prominent, well<br />

separated, with a subac\lte process at apex ill male, very feebly annoo in female.<br />

Pronotum transverse, suheylindricaJ, unarmed laterally, apex narrower than base;<br />

disk tubereulate at middle, on sides tumid, each tumescence more or less bitubereu­<br />

late. Scutellum transverse. Elytrn. with sides str!"light, gradually attenuate apic­<br />

ally, apices separately rounded; basal gibbo@ty rather feeble, disk auteriorly with<br />

simple punctures; humeri prominent, anterior margin strongly arcuate and oblique,<br />

angle with 11 moderate-sized, obtuse tubercle. Prosrnum simple, gradually widened<br />

behind middle; mesosternal process slightly longer than wide, apex feebly emargin­<br />

ate. Fifth sternite slightly longer than fourth, apex emargillate in male and female,<br />

in the latter sex there is a triangular impression medially. Pl'ocoxae globose, in<br />

male anteriorly armed with an obtuse tllhercle or feebly curved uncus; femora<br />

robust, ck\.v!"lte, in male profemora transversely rugose basally; prot.arsi feebly<br />

dilated ill male. Antennae about one and one-quarter times as long as body in male,<br />

as long as body in female, slender; scape robust, not. quite attaining middle of pro­<br />

notum, gradually, not strongly elavllte apically, in male not rugose nor grooved at<br />

basc; third segment one and one-third 't imes as long liS first, moderntely bisinuous;<br />

fourth slightly shorter than third, fifth noticeably shorter than fourth, rest gradu­<br />

ally sIlOrter.<br />

GENOTYPE.-Hesycha cribipennis Fairmaire and Germain, by<br />

monotypy.<br />

Retnarks.-This genus, as here defined (without seemg genotype),<br />

migllt prove to be identical to Glypthaga.<br />
