Everyth<strong>in</strong>g went as she had wished. The house was constantly full.<br />

Decorated ch<strong>in</strong>a platters full to the brim with honey and fresh butter were served<br />

to all who came. Sandalwood <strong>in</strong>cense perfumed the whole neighborhood, burn<strong>in</strong>g<br />

day and night <strong>in</strong> the tall <strong>in</strong>cense burners <strong>in</strong>herited from their great grandfather. In<br />

the kitchen, there was constant activity to feed the poor who crowded around the<br />

side door of the house. Family and friends kept send<strong>in</strong>g large platters of chicken<br />

and c<strong>in</strong>namon couscous to help the griev<strong>in</strong>g family who had a house full of guests<br />

for several days.<br />

The psalm s<strong>in</strong>gers recited the Yass<strong>in</strong>e and Taha chapters of the Koran <strong>in</strong><br />

which man is rem<strong>in</strong>ded of his mortal dest<strong>in</strong>y. The women played their role as<br />
