Jean Laurie Love El Harim was born in Austin, Texas on March 23, 1951,
the daughter of Laura Alice Russ Love and Robert Bruce Love. After completing
her work at Geneseo High School, Geneseo, New York in 1969, she entered the
State University of New York College at Geneseo. From the summer of 1969
until the fall of 1970 she attended SUNY College at Geneseo. She received the
degree of Maîtrise in French from the University of Caen, France in 1975. She
received the degrees of Master of Arts in Foreign Language Education in 1978
and Master of Arts in Comparative Literature in 2001 from the University of
Texas at Austin. Between 1975 and 1999 she worked in Rabat, Morocco as Peace
Corps Volunteer, English instructor at the Mohamed V University, and teacher of
English as a Second Language at the Rabat American School, Rabat, Morocco.
