Jean <strong>La</strong>urie Love El Harim was born <strong>in</strong> Aust<strong>in</strong>, Texas on March 23, 1951,<br />

the daughter of <strong>La</strong>ura Alice Russ Love and Robert Bruce Love. After complet<strong>in</strong>g<br />

her work at Geneseo High School, Geneseo, New York <strong>in</strong> 1969, she entered the<br />

State University of New York College at Geneseo. From the summer of 1969<br />

until the fall of 1970 she attended SUNY College at Geneseo. She received the<br />

degree of Maîtrise <strong>in</strong> French from the University of Caen, France <strong>in</strong> 1975. She<br />

received the degrees of Master of Arts <strong>in</strong> Foreign <strong>La</strong>nguage Education <strong>in</strong> 1978<br />

and Master of Arts <strong>in</strong> Comparative Literature <strong>in</strong> 2001 from the University of<br />

Texas at Aust<strong>in</strong>. Between 1975 and 1999 she worked <strong>in</strong> Rabat, Morocco as Peace<br />

Corps Volunteer, English <strong>in</strong>structor at the Mohamed V University, and teacher of<br />

English as a Second <strong>La</strong>nguage at the Rabat American School, Rabat, Morocco.<br />
