montane coniferous forest, and<br />

meadows and seeps. Found on<br />

dry, open rocky sites (bedrock<br />

outcrops, rubble, or talus) on<br />

ledges and moderate or steep<br />

slopes as well as inner gorges<br />

and near seeps in elevations<br />

ranging from about 2,000 to<br />

6,600 feet.<br />

Forty-nine populations (112 acres) were<br />

documented within the study area<br />

around project facilities including:<br />

• 44 populations in the vicinity of Hell<br />

Hole reservoir (about 2.4 to 4.7<br />

million individuals)<br />

• Two small populations in the vicinity<br />

of Brushy Creek (about 200<br />

individuals)<br />

• One population in the vicinity of<br />

French Meadows reservoir (one<br />

individual)<br />

• Two populations in the vicinity of<br />

the Rubicon <strong>River</strong> at Ellicott Bridge<br />

(four individuals)<br />

Additional populations were<br />

documented by Forest Service and<br />

CNDDB in rocky, upland areas along<br />

the Rubicon <strong>River</strong>, Long Canyon Creek,<br />

and Duncan Creek.<br />
