A special form of the conditional is often used in news reports. You’ll find<br />
this in sentences in which something is said that is allegedly the case, but<br />
nobody knows if it is in fact true.<br />
Hij zou die man v<strong>er</strong>moord hebben.<br />
He is said to have killed that man.<br />
Er zouden bij die aanslag tien mensen om het leven gekomen zijn.<br />
Allegedly ten people died in that assault.<br />

Combine the two sentences using the conditional conjunction.<br />
1 We gaan op vakantie. Erik krijgt een vakantietoelage (als).<br />
2 Het we<strong>er</strong> blijft mooi (als). We gaan naar de kust.<br />
3 We hebben een nieuwe tent nodig. De oude is groot genoeg (tenzij).<br />
4 Pet<strong>er</strong> vindt een vakantiebaantje (als). Hij gaat niet mee.<br />
5 Karin wil wel mee. Ze mag met haar vriendin naar T<strong>er</strong>schelling (tenzij).<br />

zou/zouden + infinitive.<br />
