Het dak zal niet meer gerepareerd kunnen worden/kunnen worden
gerepareerd.
The roof will not be able to be fixed.
Deze moedervlek zal verwijderd moeten worden/moeten worden
verwijderd.
This mole will have to be removed.
The auxiliary verb zullen is also used to form the conditional in the passive
voice. The structure of the sentence is the same as in the sentences
above. Examples:
Ik zou graag eens door een krant geïnterviewd worden/worden
geïnterviewd.
I would like to be interviewed by a newspaper.
Ik zou voor dit doel nooit gefotografeerd willen worden/willen worden
gefotografeerd.
I would never want to have my picture taken for this purpose.
Het huis zou eens opnieuw geschilderd moeten worden/moeten worden
geschilderd.
The house should be painted again some time.
Word order in subordinated passive sentences
In non-complex passive structures in all four tenses, either the passive
participle or the passive helping verb can be at the end of the sentence.
Examples:
Er stond in de krant dat er een nieuw gemeentehuis gebouwd
wordt/wordt gebouwd.
It said in the paper that a new city hall is being built.
Sanne zei dat haar vader gisteren geopereerd is/is geopereerd.
Sanne said that her father was operated on yesterday.
In complex passive structures with a modal or other auxiliary verb, the
verb group at the end of the subordinated sentence can have two varieties
in word order that are grammatically equally correct. Again, the alternative
with the passive participle at the end is more common in written Dutch.
Examples:
Ik geloof dat het huis geschilderd moet worden/moet worden geschilderd.
I believe the house needs to be painted.
