UNIT TWENTY-THREE
Prepositions
Introduction
In Unit 25 of Basic Dutch, we discussed prepositions in groups according
to their function and meaning: time, place, manner, reason, possession. This
unit lists examples of some commonly used verbs with prepositions and
some fixed expressions combining nouns, adjectives and adverbs with
prepositions. The prepositions are listed in alphabetical order, each with
the corresponding verbs and some sample sentences. When the verb is
reflexive, the reflexive pronoun is abbreviated to z. (=zich). For reasons
of space, we limit ourselves to only a few examples for each.
