The possessive with de or het + possessive
pronoun + -e
Lastly, there is an independent form of the possessive in which the article
relative to the noun is combined with the stressed form of the possessive
pronoun (except jullie) to which an -e is added. Examples:
Neem ik m’n eigen fiets of de jouwe?
Do I take my own bike or yours?
Gebruiken we oma’s recept of het mijne?
Do we use grandma’s recipe or mine?
Erik: Die tuin van Schuurman is echt veel mooier dan de onze.
Schuurman’s garden is really much more beautiful than
ours.
Sanne: Ja, maar ons grondstuk heeft meer schaduw dan het hunne.
Yes, but our property is shadier than theirs.
While grammatically certainly correct, this form is less common than
combinations with the preposition van, such as dat/die van mij/jou, etc.,
especially for the personal pronoun plural. In speech, we would probably
rather say dat/die van hun than het/de hunne.
Overview
mijn, m’n dat/die van mij de/het mijne
jouw, je, uw dat/die van jou, u de/het jouwe, uwe
