under the ensuing construction contract at various stages of this <strong>design</strong> program. The Estimate of Quantities <strong>and</strong> costs<br />

shall be used as the basis <strong>for</strong> the detailed Consultant's Estimate <strong>for</strong> the project.<br />

The Consultant shall prepare <strong>and</strong> submit an updated estimate of quantities <strong>and</strong> costs at the following stages of the project:<br />

a) For Preliminary Design projects:<br />

At the completion of Preliminary Design.<br />

b) For Total Design Projects:<br />

2. Phase 1: at the completion of Preliminary Design;<br />

3. Phase 2: at Mass Mailing No. 1 (approximately 40% <strong>design</strong> completion);<br />

4. Phase 3: at Mass Mailing No. 2 (approximately 75% <strong>design</strong> completion);<br />

5. Phase 4: At 100% <strong>design</strong> completion <strong>for</strong> use in bid documents.<br />

c) For Final Design Projects:<br />

1. Phase 1: at Mass Mailing No. 1 (approximately 40% <strong>design</strong> completion);<br />

2. Phase 2: at Mass Mailing No. 2 (approximately 75% <strong>design</strong> completion);<br />

3. Phase 3: At 100% <strong>design</strong> completion <strong>for</strong> use in bid documents.<br />

The Consultant shall revise <strong>and</strong> resubmit the estimate of quantities <strong>and</strong> costs in accordance with comments from DDC.<br />

Where special materials <strong>and</strong> amenities are proposed the Consultant shall prepare a cost comparison of the st<strong>and</strong>ard<br />

materials versus the special materials <strong>and</strong> amenities proposed.<br />

2. The Consultant shall prepare the detailed Consultant's Estimate in accordance with currently applicable<br />

Departmental st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> procedures.<br />

3. The Consultant's Estimate of Quantities <strong>and</strong> Cost shall be prepared <strong>and</strong> documented on computation sheets which<br />

shall indicate:<br />

a) The estimator <strong>and</strong> checker’s name (printed);<br />

b) The estimator <strong>and</strong> checker’s signature or initials;<br />

c) Date that the estimate is prepared;<br />

d) The Project ID. <strong>and</strong> street name;<br />

e) Item number <strong>and</strong> description;<br />

f) The specific station(s) <strong>and</strong>/or location or limits of the item;<br />

g) Individual item summary sheets;<br />

h) The measurements (including units) <strong>and</strong>/or counts, <strong>and</strong> computations;<br />

i) List of all assumptions;<br />

j) Completely identify all/any reference source material in accordance with st<strong>and</strong>ard bibliographical <strong>for</strong>mat;<br />

k) Show all unit price adjustment factors.<br />

4. Quantity take-off by CAD shall require preapproval from the Commissioner <strong>for</strong> methodology, programming <strong>and</strong><br />

documentation.<br />

5. Pay items <strong>and</strong> quantities <strong>for</strong> all Contract work shall specifically reflect the scope of work as defined in the contract<br />

documents.<br />

6. Pay items <strong>and</strong> quantities <strong>for</strong> maintenance <strong>and</strong> protection of traffic work shall accurately reflect operations, staging,<br />

sequencing, working hours, weekend work, <strong>and</strong> conditions stipulated on the contract plans <strong>and</strong> in the specifications.<br />

7. The Consultant shall provide a breakdown of the quantities <strong>and</strong> costs <strong>for</strong> the various items of work that are to be<br />

charged to each City agency's budget code(s) <strong>and</strong> to each private utility. Where participation by the State, Federal<br />

government <strong>and</strong>/or private parties is anticipated, a breakdown of costs chargeable to each is to be provided.<br />
