) Develop/<strong>design</strong> project curbs in conjunction with usage <strong>and</strong> depth of pavement, including type, locations <strong>and</strong><br />

appropriate details.<br />

c) Develop/<strong>design</strong>/coordinate <strong>and</strong> locate pedestrian ramps after an analysis of potential interference caused by<br />

existing/proposed facilities in the area. The specific location, configuration <strong>and</strong> grading of pedestrian ramps,<br />

contiguous sidewalks <strong>and</strong> gutter flow at apex of corners shall be <strong>design</strong>ed <strong>and</strong> coordinated with the conditions<br />

<strong>and</strong> hardware within the corner quadrant including but not limited to traffic signals, catch basins, manholes,<br />

grates, lampposts, etc.<br />

d) Reconcile existing driveway locations with building or property activity requiring a driveway access. The<br />

Consultant shall <strong>design</strong> driveway location(s) in accordance with current Department of Transportation procedures<br />

regarding replacement driveways.<br />

e) Prepare customized letters, <strong>for</strong> City signature, to property owners where existing driveway is not being<br />

replaced or where it is proposed to reconfigure existing driveway.<br />

f) Develop/<strong>design</strong> adjustments to City-owned castings including details necessary <strong>for</strong> special casting<br />

adjustments.<br />

g) Develop/<strong>design</strong> non-structural adjustments to existing Transit Authority subway ventilators <strong>and</strong> emergency<br />

exits, including replacement <strong>and</strong> adjustment of frames, gratings <strong>and</strong> doors to proposed grades, <strong>and</strong> modification<br />

of ventilators to con<strong>for</strong>m with aesthetic treatments proposed <strong>for</strong> curbs <strong>and</strong> sidewalks.<br />

h) The Consultant shall enter into an agreement with any affected railroad known as a “Force Account<br />

Agreement.” In accordance with such agreement, the railroad shall provide <strong>services</strong> in connection with the<br />

project, <strong>and</strong> be reimbursed <strong>for</strong> the same. The <strong>services</strong> to be provided by the railroad may include, without<br />

limitation, inspection <strong>services</strong> during the excavation of test pits <strong>and</strong> flagging <strong>services</strong> during inspection <strong>and</strong>/or field<br />

surveys. The items of cost listed below incurred by the Consultant in connection with the Force Account<br />

Agreement shall be considered Reimbursable Services in accordance with Articles 6 <strong>and</strong> 7 of the Contract.<br />

(1) The cost of <strong>services</strong> provided by the railroad under the Force Account Agreement. The railroad is only<br />

entitled to receive payment <strong>for</strong> verifiable <strong>services</strong> provided by the railroad. When inspection or flagging<br />

<strong>services</strong> are provided, the railroad is only entitled to receive payment <strong>for</strong> the days the inspector(s) or<br />

flagmen were at the site together with the Consultant.<br />

(2) The cost of insurance (if any) obtained by the Consultant under the Force Account Agreement which is<br />

above <strong>and</strong> beyond the types <strong>and</strong> amounts of insurance the Consultant is required to provide under this<br />

Contract, as determined by the Commissioner.<br />

(3) The cost of entry <strong>and</strong>/or permit fees.<br />

i) Design <strong>and</strong> define the limits of pavement construction/ restoration <strong>for</strong> all streets affected by the proposed<br />

work.<br />

j) Develop/<strong>design</strong> pavement markings <strong>for</strong> lane delineation, pedestrian crossings, channelization <strong>and</strong> <strong>for</strong><br />

additional traffic controls as needed.<br />

k) Include provisions <strong>for</strong> removing/relocation/resetting of Fire Department facilities, parking meters <strong>and</strong> the<br />

Bureau of Water Supply hydrant facilities that are affected by the proposed street <strong>design</strong> <strong>and</strong> integrate the<br />

<strong>design</strong>s into the contract documents.<br />

l) Review the results of sewer cleaning, sewer television inspection <strong>and</strong> manual sewer inspection programs<br />

per<strong>for</strong>med under other <strong>contracts</strong> or by the Department of Environmental Protection personnel as they relate to<br />

this Project; coordinate the results <strong>and</strong> recommendations from said programs with this Project, <strong>and</strong> integrate <strong>and</strong><br />

incorporate required sewer work into the contract documents.<br />

m) Prepare, where necessary, working drawings/cross-sections/supplementary profiles con<strong>for</strong>ming to currently<br />

applicable Departmental St<strong>and</strong>ards.<br />

n) Incorporate preliminary maintenance of traffic alternatives <strong>for</strong> the various construction stages of the project.<br />

The preliminary maintenance of traffic alternatives, as developed by the Consultant, shall be<br />

NYC Department of Design <strong>and</strong> Construction<br />
