p) The Consultant shall prepare Final Seepage Basin <strong>and</strong>/or Highway Drains Construction Contract Documents,<br />

<strong>and</strong> incorporate the Seepage Basin <strong>and</strong>/or Highway Drains Construction Contract Documents into the Final<br />

Consolidated Contract Documents <strong>for</strong> the Project.<br />

4.19 SEWER DESIGN<br />

A. Under this task the Consultant shall provide <strong>for</strong> the preparation of Sewer Design to be per<strong>for</strong>med in conjunction with<br />

the project. This work shall include the rehabilitation, relocation, or replacement of existing sewers <strong>and</strong>/or the installation<br />

of new sewers, including the <strong>design</strong> of necessary appurtenances, all in accordance with a prescribed Drainage Plan.<br />

B. The scope of work <strong>for</strong> Sewer Design shall include per<strong>for</strong>mance of the following <strong>services</strong>:<br />

1. Preparation of a Preliminary Sewer Design which shall include:<br />

a) Plotting of existing <strong>and</strong> proposed sewers, <strong>and</strong> sewer rehabilitation work on Utility Plans <strong>for</strong> the project<br />

streets in st<strong>and</strong>ard Departmental <strong>for</strong>mat.<br />

b) Plotting of profiles <strong>for</strong> existing <strong>and</strong> proposed sewers in st<strong>and</strong>ard Departmental <strong>for</strong>mat.<br />

c) Designing <strong>and</strong> locating all necessary chambers, manholes <strong>and</strong> other appurtenances.<br />

d) Researching <strong>and</strong> reviewing all available soil data <strong>for</strong> the project area, identifying soils exploration<br />

<strong>requirements</strong> to provide additional data that is needed to complete the <strong>design</strong>, <strong>and</strong> incorporating the<br />

soils exploration <strong>requirements</strong> into the Subsurface Exploration Program provided <strong>for</strong> in this Contract.<br />

e) Designing all bedding, encasement <strong>and</strong> piles <strong>for</strong> the support <strong>and</strong> protection of sewers <strong>and</strong> sewer<br />

appurtenances in accordance with the latest st<strong>and</strong>ards of the Department.<br />

2. Submission of the Preliminary Sewer Design to the Commissioner <strong>for</strong> review <strong>and</strong> comments, <strong>and</strong><br />

incorporation of the Commissioner’s comments on the Preliminary Design be<strong>for</strong>e incorporating the <strong>design</strong> into the<br />

Preliminary Contract Documents under the Street Design Task.<br />

3. Preparation of Final Sewer Design <strong>and</strong> obtaining approval from the Commissioner prior to incorporating the<br />

Final Sewer Design into the Final Contract Documents in accordance with the Street Design Task.<br />

C. Development of Contract Documents<br />

1. In preparing the Contract Drawings <strong>and</strong> any addenda to the st<strong>and</strong>ard Sewer Specifications that are needed, the<br />

Consultant shall take cognizance of the basic minimum <strong>requirements</strong> set <strong>for</strong>th herein, together with such other<br />

<strong>requirements</strong> as may be proper <strong>for</strong> the complete fulfillment of this contract <strong>for</strong> the purpose <strong>for</strong> which the project is to<br />

be used. The proposed construction is to be <strong>design</strong>ed generally in accordance with the <strong>requirements</strong> of any other<br />

agency having jurisdiction as the <strong>design</strong> progresses.<br />

2. The Consultant shall review all boring <strong>and</strong> soil data obtained in other sections of this program with a view to<br />

identifying unacceptable fill material <strong>for</strong> purpose of preparing estimates of quantities that are to be included in the<br />

contract documents.<br />

D. Surveys<br />

In preparing Sewer Design, the Consultant shall utilize in<strong>for</strong>mation as obtained in the Topographic <strong>and</strong> Utility Surveys <strong>for</strong><br />

the Project, <strong>and</strong> test pit <strong>and</strong>/or boring in<strong>for</strong>mation as may be provided by the various public/private utilities, <strong>and</strong> soils<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation obtained under the Soils Exploration Program provided <strong>for</strong> under this Contract. The Consultant shall<br />

supplement this in<strong>for</strong>mation with field trips, additional surveys <strong>and</strong> searches <strong>for</strong> in<strong>for</strong>mation as may be required.<br />

E. Sewer Design: In connection with Sewer Design, the Consultant shall provide the following <strong>services</strong>:<br />

1. Prepare preliminary <strong>and</strong> final <strong>design</strong>s superimposed over the composite utility plan, addenda to St<strong>and</strong>ard<br />

Sewer Specifications, estimates of cost, including utility charges <strong>and</strong> Gas Cost Sharing reimbursements (if any),<br />

<strong>and</strong> such pertinent <strong>engineering</strong> data as may be required. The <strong>design</strong> drawings shall be in accordance with<br />

current Departmental st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> guidelines, <strong>and</strong> shall show, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner, all<br />

necessary sewer <strong>design</strong> details.<br />

2. Present the Sewer Design Plans to private utility companies <strong>for</strong> private utility impact assessment <strong>and</strong><br />

alignment coordination.<br />
