(b)<br />

Study <strong>and</strong> Design of Street Drainage<br />

1. Under this subsection the Consultant shall study the site <strong>and</strong> tributary storm water flow patterns <strong>and</strong>/or their<br />

routings; study the proposed street grades developed under the preceding Subsection (a) Study <strong>and</strong> Design of Street<br />

Grades as described above; <strong>design</strong> the locations of proposed catch basins; <strong>design</strong> the locations of catch basin chute<br />

connections to existing or proposed storm or combined sewers; <strong>and</strong> provide adequately <strong>for</strong> drainage of all streets that are<br />

included in this project.<br />

2. In studying the existing street drainage facilities, researching storm water run-off <strong>and</strong> <strong>design</strong>ing new drainage<br />

facilities the Consultant shall:<br />

a) Utilize the topographic data provided to the extent necessary <strong>and</strong> applicable <strong>for</strong> the proper completion of this<br />

task;<br />

b) Conduct a "rainy day survey" to observe all gutter flow routings, all ponding <strong>and</strong> flooding locations, <strong>and</strong> all<br />

inoperative catch basins <strong>and</strong> inlets;<br />

c) Design the locations of catch basins <strong>and</strong> the routing of chute connections into appropriate storm or combined<br />

sewers;<br />

d) In coordination with the Study <strong>and</strong> Design of Street Grades Task, analyze <strong>and</strong> <strong>design</strong> alternate sidewalk <strong>and</strong><br />

street drainage schemes including, but not limited to, the adjustment of transverse sidewalk slopes <strong>and</strong> provision of<br />

longitudinal troughs.<br />

e) Design all non-st<strong>and</strong>ard sewer appurtenances;<br />

f) Design, coordinate <strong>and</strong> incorporate into the contract documents the conversion of existing manholes with 24<br />

inch diameter frame <strong>and</strong> covers to manholes with 27 inch diameter frame <strong>and</strong> covers, <strong>and</strong> all other catch basins,<br />

manholes, basin connections, <strong>and</strong> non st<strong>and</strong>ard drainage appurtenances;<br />

g) Provide a constructability review <strong>and</strong> reiterate all drainage <strong>design</strong> elements with regards to the mitigation of<br />

impacts with City owned facilities in accordance with pre-engineered methodology;<br />

h) Present the street drainage plans to private utility companies <strong>for</strong> private utility impact assessment.<br />

(c)<br />

Permanent Street Signs<br />

1. Under this subsection the Consultant shall inspect <strong>and</strong> inventory the existing street signs, research <strong>and</strong> review the<br />

"street sign work order" records of the Bureau of Traffic Operations, make recommendations <strong>for</strong> modifications to the<br />

existing street signs <strong>and</strong> <strong>for</strong> new street signs, as appropriate.<br />

2. The Consultant shall take into consideration all existing traffic regulatory signs, traffic warning signs, street name<br />

signs, including L<strong>and</strong>mark District special signs, parking regulation signs, <strong>and</strong> in<strong>for</strong>mation signs, in executing the work<br />

required under this task.<br />

3. The Consultant shall inventory all permanent street signs as defined above.<br />

4. The Consultant shall <strong>design</strong> street signage required <strong>for</strong> the project street(s) in compliance with the latest st<strong>and</strong>ards<br />

of the Bureau of Traffic Operations, <strong>and</strong>/or the New York State Manual of Uni<strong>for</strong>m Traffic Control Devices, where<br />

applicable, as determined by the Commissioner in consultation with the Consultant.<br />

5. The Consultant shall present his/her proposals, <strong>for</strong> new street signage, to the Bureau of Traffic Operations <strong>for</strong><br />

review <strong>and</strong> approval.<br />

6. The Consultant shall prepare a list of all street signs required <strong>for</strong> this project in tabular <strong>for</strong>mat. The list shall indicate<br />

the text <strong>and</strong> size of each sign required, <strong>and</strong> the Consultant's estimated quantity <strong>for</strong> each sign.<br />

7. The Consultant shall include a tabulation of all required street signs on the contract drawings being developed <strong>for</strong><br />

this project in accordance with current Departmental <strong>requirements</strong>.<br />
