intelligence source — The means or system that can be used to observe and record<br />

information relating to the condition, situation, or activities <strong>of</strong> a targeted location,<br />

organization, or individual. An intelligence source can be people, documents,<br />

equipment, or technical sensors. See also intelligence; source. (JP 2-0)<br />

intelligence subject code — A system <strong>of</strong> subject and area references to index the<br />

information contained in intelligence reports as required by a general intelligence<br />

document reference service.<br />

intelligence summary — A specific report providing a summary <strong>of</strong> items <strong>of</strong> intelligence at<br />

frequent intervals. Also called INTSUM. See also intelligence.<br />

intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance — An activity that synchronizes and<br />

integrates the planning and operation <strong>of</strong> sensors, assets, and processing, exploitation,<br />

and dissemination systems in direct support <strong>of</strong> current and future operations. This is an<br />

integrated intelligence and operations function. Also called ISR. See also<br />

intelligence; intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance visualization;<br />

intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance visualization — The capability to<br />

graphically display the current and future locations <strong>of</strong> intelligence, surveillance, and<br />

reconnaissance sensors, their projected platform tracks, vulnerability to threat capabilities<br />

and meteorological and oceanographic phenomena, fields <strong>of</strong> regard, tasked collection<br />

targets, and products to provide a basis for dynamic re-tasking and time-sensitive decision<br />

making. Also called ISR visualization. See also intelligence; intelligence, surveillance,<br />

intelligence system — Any formal or informal system to manage data gathering, to obtain<br />

and process the data, to interpret the data, and to provide reasoned judgments to<br />

decision makers as a basis for action. The term is not limited to intelligence<br />

organizations or services but includes any system, in all its parts, that ac<strong>com</strong>plishes the<br />

interagency — Of or pertaining to United States Government agencies and departments,<br />

including the Department <strong>of</strong> Defense. See also interagency coordination. (JP 3-08)<br />

interagency coordination — Within the context <strong>of</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Defense involvement,<br />

the coordination that occurs between elements <strong>of</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Defense, and engaged<br />

US Government agencies and departments for the purpose <strong>of</strong> achieving an objective.<br />
