theater antisubmarine warfare <strong>com</strong>mander — A Navy <strong>com</strong>mander assigned to develop<br />

plans and direct assigned and attached assets for the conduct <strong>of</strong> antisubmarine warfare<br />

within an operational area. Normally designated as a task force or task group<br />

<strong>com</strong>mander and responsible to a Navy <strong>com</strong>ponent <strong>com</strong>mander or joint force maritime<br />

<strong>com</strong>ponent <strong>com</strong>mander. Also called TASWC. (JP 3-32)<br />

theater-assigned transportation assets — Transportation assets that are assigned under the<br />

<strong>com</strong>batant <strong>com</strong>mand (<strong>com</strong>mand authority) <strong>of</strong> a geographic <strong>com</strong>batant <strong>com</strong>mander.<br />

theater detainee reporting center — The field operating agency <strong>of</strong> the national detainee<br />

reporting center. It is the central tracing agency within the theater, responsible for<br />

maintaining information on all detainees and their personal property within a theater <strong>of</strong><br />

operations or assigned area <strong>of</strong> operations. Also called TDRC. (JP 3-63)<br />

theater distribution — The flow <strong>of</strong> personnel, equipment, and materiel within theater to<br />

meet the geographic <strong>com</strong>batant <strong>com</strong>mander’s missions. See also distribution;<br />

theater distribution system — A distribution system <strong>com</strong>prised <strong>of</strong> four independent and<br />

mutually supported networks within theater to meet the geographic <strong>com</strong>batant<br />

<strong>com</strong>mander’s requirements: the physical network; the financial network; the<br />

information network; and the <strong>com</strong>munications network. See also distribution;<br />

theater event system — Architecture for reporting theater ballistic missile events,<br />

<strong>com</strong>posed <strong>of</strong> three independent processing and reporting elements: the joint tactical<br />

ground stations, tactical detection and reporting, and the space-based infrared system<br />

mission control station. Also called TES. (JP 3-14)<br />

theater hospitalization capability — Essential care and health service support capabilities<br />

to either return the patient to duty and/or stabilization to ensure the patient can tolerate<br />

evacuation to a definitive care facility outside the theater. It includes modular hospital<br />

configurations required to support the theater (emergency medical services, surgical<br />

services, primary care, veterinary services, dental services, preventive medicine, and<br />

<strong>com</strong>bat and operational stress control, blood banking services, hospitalization,<br />

laboratory and pharmacy services, radiology, medical logistics and other medical<br />

theater missile — A missile, which may be a ballistic missile, a cruise missile, or an air-tosurface<br />

missile (not including short-range, non-nuclear, direct fire missiles, bombs, or<br />

rockets such as Maverick or wire-guided missiles), whose target is within a given<br />

theater <strong>of</strong> operation. Also called TM. (JP 3-01)<br />
