chemical agent cumulative action — The building up, within the human body, <strong>of</strong> small<br />

ineffective doses <strong>of</strong> certain chemical agents to a point where eventual effect is similar<br />

to one large dose.<br />

chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense — Measures taken to minimize or<br />

negate the vulnerabilities and/or effects <strong>of</strong> a chemical, biological, radiological, or<br />

nuclear incident. Also called CBRN defense. (JP 3-11)<br />

chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear environment — Conditions found in an<br />

area resulting from immediate or persisting effects <strong>of</strong> chemical, biological, radiological,<br />

radiological, and nuclear elements that could cause an adverse affect through their<br />

taken to minimize or negate the vulnerability to, and effects <strong>of</strong>, chemical, biological,<br />

force’s ability to continue military operations in a chemical, biological, radiological, or<br />

keep chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats and hazards from having an<br />

adverse effect on personnel, equipment, or critical assets and facilities. Also called<br />

provide chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threat and hazard information<br />

activity that integrates the sense, shield, and sustain operational elements to characterize<br />

chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear hazards and threats and employ necessary<br />

protection measures essential to mitigating the effects <strong>of</strong> chemical, biological,<br />
