contract support integration — The coordination and synchronization <strong>of</strong> contracted support<br />

executed in a designated operational area in support <strong>of</strong> the joint force. (JP 4-10)<br />

contract termination — Defense procurement: the cessation or cancellation, in whole or in<br />

part, <strong>of</strong> work under a prime contract or a subcontract thereunder for the convenience <strong>of</strong>,<br />

or at the option <strong>of</strong>, the government, or due to failure <strong>of</strong> the contractor to perform in<br />

accordance with the terms <strong>of</strong> the contract (default). (JP 4-10)<br />

control — 1. Authority that may be less than full <strong>com</strong>mand exercised by a <strong>com</strong>mander over<br />

part <strong>of</strong> the activities <strong>of</strong> subordinate or other organizations. (JP 1) 2. In mapping,<br />

charting, and photogrammetry, a collective term for a system <strong>of</strong> marks or objects on the<br />

Earth or on a map or a photograph, whose positions or elevations (or both) have been or<br />

will be determined. (JP 2-03) 3. Physical or psychological pressures exerted with the<br />

intent to assure that an agent or group will respond as directed. (JP 3-0) 4. An<br />

indicator governing the distribution and use <strong>of</strong> documents, information, or material.<br />

Such indicators are the subject <strong>of</strong> intelligence <strong>com</strong>munity agreement and are<br />

control area — A controlled airspace extending upwards from a specified limit above the<br />

Earth. See also controlled airspace; control zone; terminal control area. (JP 3-04)<br />

control group — Personnel, ships, and craft designated to control the waterborne ship-toshore<br />

movement. (JP 3-<strong>02</strong>)<br />

controlled airspace — An airspace <strong>of</strong> defined dimensions within which civilian air traffic<br />

control services are provided to control flights. (JP 3-52)<br />

controlled firing area — An area in which ordnance firing is conducted under controlled<br />

conditions so as to eliminate hazard to aircraft in flight. See also restricted area.<br />

controlled information — 1. Information conveyed to an adversary in a deception<br />

operation to evoke desired appreciations. 2. Information and indicators deliberately<br />

conveyed or denied to foreign targets to evoke invalid <strong>of</strong>ficial estimates that result in<br />

foreign <strong>of</strong>ficial actions advantageous to US interests and objectives. (JP 2-01.2)<br />

controlled shipping — Shipping that is controlled by the <strong>Military</strong> Sealift Command.<br />

Included in this category are <strong>Military</strong> Sealift Command ships (United States Naval<br />

Ships), government-owned ships operated under a general agency agreement, and<br />

<strong>com</strong>mercial ships under charter to the <strong>Military</strong> Sealift Command. See also <strong>Military</strong><br />
