<strong>Joint</strong> Doctrine Planning Conference — A forum that meets semiannually to address and<br />

vote on project proposals; discuss key joint doctrinal and operational issues; discuss<br />

potential changes to the joint doctrine development process; keep up to date on the<br />

status <strong>of</strong> the joint publication projects and emerging publications; and keep abreast <strong>of</strong><br />

other initiatives <strong>of</strong> interest to the members. The <strong>Joint</strong> Doctrine Planning Conference<br />

provides re<strong>com</strong>mendations that are approved by the <strong>Joint</strong> Staff/J-7, in the name <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Chairman <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Joint</strong> Chiefs <strong>of</strong> Staff. Also called JDPC. (CJCSI 5120.<strong>02</strong>)<br />

joint document exploitation center — A physical location for deriving intelligence<br />

information from captured adversary documents including all forms <strong>of</strong> electronic data and<br />

other forms <strong>of</strong> stored textual and graphic information. It is normally subordinate to the joint<br />

force intelligence directorate. Also called JDEC. See also intelligence. (JP 2-01.2)<br />

joint duty assignment — An assignment to a designated position in a multi-Service, joint<br />

or multinational <strong>com</strong>mand or activity that is involved in the integrated employment or<br />

support <strong>of</strong> the land, sea, and air forces <strong>of</strong> at least two <strong>of</strong> the three <strong>Military</strong> Departments.<br />

Such involvement includes, but is not limited to, matters relating to national military<br />

strategy, joint doctrine and policy, strategic planning, contingency planning, and<br />

<strong>com</strong>mand and control <strong>of</strong> <strong>com</strong>bat operations under a unified or specified <strong>com</strong>mand.<br />

Also called JDA.<br />

<strong>Joint</strong> Duty Assignment List — Positions designated as joint duty assignments are reflected<br />

in a list approved by the Secretary <strong>of</strong> Defense and maintained by the <strong>Joint</strong> Staff. The<br />

<strong>Joint</strong> Duty Assignment List is reflected in the <strong>Joint</strong> Duty Assignment Management<br />

Information System. Also called JDAL.<br />

joint engagement zone — In air defense, that airspace <strong>of</strong> defined dimensions within which<br />

multiple air defense systems (surface-to-air missiles and aircraft) are simultaneously<br />

employed to engage air threats. Also called JEZ. (JP 3-52)<br />

joint facilities utilization board — A joint board that evaluates and reconciles <strong>com</strong>ponent<br />

requests for real estate, use <strong>of</strong> existing facilities, inter-Service support, and construction<br />

to ensure <strong>com</strong>pliance with <strong>Joint</strong> Civil-<strong>Military</strong> Engineering Board priorities. Also<br />

called JFUB. (JP 3-34)<br />

joint field <strong>of</strong>fice — A temporary multiagency coordination center established at the incident<br />

site to provide a central location for coordination <strong>of</strong> federal, state, local, tribal,<br />

nongovernmental, and private-sector organizations with primary responsibility for<br />

incident oversight, direction, and/or assistance to effectively coordinate protection,<br />

prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery actions. Also called JFO. (JP 3-28)<br />

joint fires — Fires delivered during the employment <strong>of</strong> forces from two or more<br />

<strong>com</strong>ponents in coordinated action to produce desired effects in support <strong>of</strong> a <strong>com</strong>mon<br />

objective. See also fires. (JP 3-0)<br />
