joint meteorological and oceanographic <strong>of</strong>ficer — Officer designated to provide direct<br />

meteorological and oceanographic support to a joint force <strong>com</strong>mander. Also called<br />

JMO. (JP 3-59)<br />

joint military information support operations task force — A joint special operations<br />

task force <strong>com</strong>posed <strong>of</strong> headquarters and operational assets. It assists the joint force<br />

<strong>com</strong>mander in developing strategic, operational, and tactical military information<br />

support operation plans for a theater campaign or other operations. Mission<br />

requirements will determine its <strong>com</strong>position and assigned or attached units to support<br />

the joint task force <strong>com</strong>mander. Also called JMTF. See also joint special operations<br />

joint mission-essential task — A mission task selected by a joint force <strong>com</strong>mander deemed<br />

essential to mission ac<strong>com</strong>plishment and defined using the <strong>com</strong>mon language <strong>of</strong> the<br />

universal joint task list in terms <strong>of</strong> task, condition, and standard. Also called JMET.<br />

joint mortuary affairs <strong>of</strong>fice — Plans and executes all mortuary affairs programs within a<br />

theater. Provides guidance to facilitate the conduct <strong>of</strong> all mortuary programs and to<br />

maintain data (as required) pertaining to recovery, identification, and disposition <strong>of</strong> all<br />

US dead and missing in the assigned theater. Serves as the central clearing point for all<br />

mortuary affairs and monitors the deceased and missing personal effects program. Also<br />

joint movement center — The center established to coordinate the employment <strong>of</strong> all<br />

means <strong>of</strong> transportation (including that provided by allies or host nations) to support the<br />

concept <strong>of</strong> operations. This coordination is ac<strong>com</strong>plished through establishment <strong>of</strong><br />

transportation policies within the assigned operational area, consistent with relative<br />

urgency <strong>of</strong> need, port and terminal capabilities, transportation asset availability, and<br />

priorities set by a joint force <strong>com</strong>mander. Also called JMC. See also concept <strong>of</strong><br />

joint network operations control center — An element <strong>of</strong> the J-6 established to support a<br />

joint force <strong>com</strong>mander. The joint network operations control center serves as the single<br />

control agency for the management and direction <strong>of</strong> the joint force <strong>com</strong>munications<br />

systems. The joint network operations control center may include plans and operations,<br />

administration, system control, and frequency management sections. Also called<br />

JNCC. (JP 6-0)<br />

joint nuclear accident coordinating center — A <strong>com</strong>bined Defense Special Weapons<br />

Agency and Department <strong>of</strong> Energy centralized agency for exchanging and maintaining<br />

information concerned with radiological assistance capabilities and coordinating that<br />

assistance in response to an accident or incident involving radioactive materials. Also<br />

called JNACC.<br />
