GSC Sentinel-2 PDGS OCD
Issue 1 Revision 2 (draft) - 25.07.2010
GMES-GSEG-EOPG-TN-09-0008
page 189 of 350
The ability to trigger the hosted-processors is dedicated and private to each collaborative
peer. Optionally, the collaborative peer may extend the accessibility to its processor and grant
access to other parties by configuration.
4.10.2.2.2.3 Systematic Hosted-Processing Scenario
Following successful validation activities performed under the on-demand processing
scenario, this operation scenario may be agreed optionally. In this mode, the user-processor
will be triggered automatically within the PDGS processing chain, generating the value-added
products according to a well-defined configuration, and making them available for discovery
and download through the Data-Access Service.
This presupposes that:
○ The hosted processor can be triggered autonomously through the definition of
systematic processing rules and default processing parameters;
○ The generated products can be inventoried and archived in the PDGS as any other
core product. This constraint will impose the value-added products to comply with a
well-defined standard model for product handling in the PDGS inherited from the core
product model defined in [RD-07].
The on-line retention of the so generated value-added products will be configurable and
typically span between a few weeks to several months.
Whilst access to the value-added products will be dedicated and private to each collaborative
peer, it may be extended to other parties by configuration.
Service evolutions:
A last level of collaboration is provisioned for to enable the sustained generation and
publishing within the PDGS of third-party product collections as other GSC Sentinel-2
products through the Data-Access service.
Eligibility to this enhanced level of collaboration and associated management will be dealt
with on a case-by-case basis by the POM.
This enhanced collaboration presupposes that:
○ The value-added dataset is complementary to existing ones, valuable for wide
publishing via the GSC and was as such promoted for inclusion in the DAP. This
imposes in particular that adequate licensing of the value-added products exists and
comply fully to the Sentinel-2 data-policy in place;
○ The value-added products generated are adequately and publicly documented in
semantics and format for publishing to third-parties and have been pre-validated
according to an agreed qualification criteria;
○ The hosted processor is considered mature and operational and can operate
autonomously in the PDGS with little required supervision overhead;
○ Assurance is provided that the hosted-processor software and associated
documentation will be maintained in the long-term by the peer collaboration entity;
