Two main mapping services have been identified:

○ Offline maps: which are maps either derived from pre-existing data or obtained by
pre-event simulations containing cartographic and thematic information.
○ On-line maps: which are maps either directly derived from in-situ data and/or EO
images, acquired during the crisis or just after. They provide information about the
event timing, location extent and level of damage.
The Sentinel-2 mission will supply the following Emergency Services and Projects essentially
for mapping purposes:
○ Fast Track FP7 Emergency Response Core Service (ERSS):
o ERSS_001a - On-line Mapping for Europe (HR) - new data
o ERSS_002a - On-line Mapping for Rest of World (HR) - new data

o ERSS_010c_LDS&SPT - Burn Scar Mapping (Landsat, SPOT)
o ERSS_010c_SPT - Burn Scar Mapping (SPOT)
o ERSS_011a - Volcanic events outside Europe
o ERSS_019 - Cross-cutting issues
o ERSS_022 - Service Validation
○ Emergency GSE Projects (EGSE):
o EGSE_001 - Crisis and Damage Mapping – Non Charter
o EGSE_002 - Situation Mapping
o EGSE_003 - IDP (Internally Displaced People)/Refugee Support Mapping
o EGSE_004 - Thematic Mapping
o EGSE_007 - Basic Mapping – Small Scale
o EGSE_009 - Thematic Mapping – Medium Scale
