○ The applicable interfaces for the release of the configuration parameters updates (e.g.<br />

NUC table delivery to the FOS and GIPP delivery to the <strong>PDGS</strong> DPC & IDP functions);<br />

○ The applicable interfaces for gathering and subsequent release of the mission<br />

operations reports and information delivery (e.g. AI function archive reports delivery to<br />

MPA function);<br />

○ The own function HMI supporting the operator on the configuration rules edition,<br />

coordinated release activities, historical queries, etc;<br />

○ The generated reports towards the POM on the mission reference files updates<br />

according to HLOP;<br />

○ The M&C interface;<br />

5.2.4.2 Mission Planning (MPL) Function<br />

5.2.4.2.1 Function Objectives and High-Level Description<br />

The MPL function is responsible for <strong>Sentinel</strong>-2 mission plan generation for imagery<br />

acquisition and related data downlink activities to ground-stations and / or EDRS.<br />

As such, it is in charge of:<br />

o Generating the <strong>Sentinel</strong>-2 (S2A and S2B spacecrafts) Reference Orbit File;<br />

o Commanding MSI observation sensing activities;<br />

o Commanding MSI calibration sensing activities;<br />

o Commanding satellite on-board MMFU to record acquired imagery according to<br />

priorities (nominal/NRT data recording management);<br />

o Commanding satellite on-board MMFU to playback MSI data (according to priorities),<br />

satellite ancillary data and HKTM;<br />

o Characterising the <strong>Sentinel</strong>-2 assigned time segments for EDRS operations to produce<br />

the S-2 static EDRS Booked-Segments;<br />

o Commanding data transmission systems X-band transmitter XBS to downlink to<br />

ground stations and / or OCP for data delivery via EDRS;<br />

o Optimizing satellites resources usage (MSI acquisitions, memory load, downlink<br />

capabilities, etc.) according to constellation capabilities;<br />

o Verifying safety constraints from the SSCF applicable to the <strong>PDGS</strong> (e.g. MSI duty<br />

cycle, PDHT duty cycle, OCP duty cycle, etc.);<br />

o Editing the SSCF values for operations that applicable to the <strong>PDGS</strong> in order to assess<br />

their impact on the generation of the Mission-Plan;<br />

o Processing FOS response to the planned commanding activities to identify potential<br />

activities rejection;<br />

o Generating the Coarse Downlink Budget derived from the configuration characterised<br />

by the CGS/LGS network Characterisation and constrained by the X-Band RF conflict<br />

segments and the ground station resources conflicts;<br />
