6.16.3.2 Generation of Quality Control Daily Reports
This scenario stands for the autonomous generation of the daily quality control reports based
on the overall production.
The daily quality control reports can include amongst other:
‣ Relevant statistics on the configured quality indicators (geometric, radiometric,
defective pixels, etc);
‣ Product-data surface classification (land, sea, ice, clouds, etc);
‣ Percentage of passed/failed quality control checks;
‣ List of product-data which is format-corrupted or with any anomaly;
‣ Quality disclaimers, to provide information on the quality properties of the product data
already available to the users;
‣ Significant anomalies detected on the production that may require special attention
and intervention.
The MPA function is autonomously fed with the production data grouped in specific quality
control (logical) datasets (cf. section 6.11) via the MMUS function (i.e. using its download
manager). In addition, the MPA function can take advantage of the PDGS functions deployed
at the same centre – MPAC – (cf. section 5.3.2.3) to make use of the available mechanisms
for data circulation and access to the local archive.
The MPA function automatic checks and reports generation can be complemented by
additional visual inspection activities of a sub-set of product images performed interactively by
the expert teams.
The MPA function quality control daily reports are supplied to the expert teams and available
to the POM for the precise up-to-date information on the behaviour of the production chain.
6.16.3.3 Generation of Quality Control N-Day Cyclic Reports
This scenario analogous the previous one stands for the autonomous generation of the cyclic
quality control reports based on the overall production. The nature and scope of the cyclic
reports is different than the daily ones, more focused on statistics over key Quality Indicators,
which allow assessing the production / instrument response trends on the long-term.
The cyclic quality control reports over a given cycle period can include amongst other:
‣ Relevant summary of statistics on key quality indicators (geometric, radiometric,
defective pixels, etc);
‣ Percentage of passed/failed quality control checks;
‣ Evolution in time of the MSI characterisation;
The MPA function autonomously generates the cyclic reports according to configuration on
schedule-driven basis.
The MPA function quality control cyclic reports, as for the previous scenario, are supplied to
the expert teams and available to the POM for the precise up-to-date information on the
behaviour of the production chain and the MSI characterisation.
