○ Maintaining consistent references to the multiple archive/inventory sources and the
corresponding data-access sinks (data-access gateway servers);
○ Managing data duplications in different archive/inventory instances;
○ Consolidation of the PDGS archived metadata and browse images as part of the
indexing activities to identify duplications across the federated archives;
○ Providing a query interface to support remote requests on the physical location
(archive centres and associated data-access gateway servers) of the archived product
data items according to different criteria;
○ Feeding the Front-End Services (i.e. the MMUS and OLIB functions) with consolidated
(no duplications) browse images and metadata associated to the new or modified
archived production;
5.2.3.11.2 Design Drivers and Constraints
The following drivers and constraints are identified:
○ High availability. DAX function nominal activities (products availability and location
query activities and support for product assembly) are aimed for systematic operation
with hot-redundant capability on separate hardware;
○ Support to the mission LTDP service granting data access operations accordingly;
○ High reliability and scalable performance;
○ Minimize operator-driven maintenance activities;
5.2.3.11.3 Function Interfaces
The following function interfaces are identified for the DAX function:
○ The PDGS/AI function archive reports to follow-up the PDGS archives content
including the metadata required to be indexed;
○ The remote query interface vis-à-vis the DAG client (e.g. query requests to the data
indexes through HTTP);
○ The Front-End Services (i.e. the MMUS and OLIB functions) for the supply of
representative browse images and associated metadata of the PDGS available
production;
○ The CDS/SCI for the systematic provision of the coverage reports of the Sentinel-2
generated production by the PDGS (delivered through the MCC function as proxy);
○ A file report regularly on the data indexing activities performed for the performance
assessment of the PDGS activities (delivered through the MCC function as proxy);
○ Relevant M&C information;
