6.12.3 OPERATION SCENARIOS
6.12.3.1 True Colour Images Database Build-Up/Update
This operation scenario stands for the autonomous creation and update of the Sentinel-2 true
colour images database to be published towards the users.
The OLIB function creates a catalogue based on the available true colour images production.
This catalogue encapsulates the Sentinel-2 products components breakdown (i.e. the TCI
product data items) and their archive location in the PDGS.
The following steps are identified for this operation scenario:
1) The OLIB function autonomously gathers and processes the new available metadata
and browse images supplied by the PDGS/DAX function;
2) The new metadata is consolidated and according to the TCI database scope, the
relevant TCI product data items are downloaded by use of the PDGS/DAG function
(client side);
3) The OLIB function consolidates the downloaded TCI product data items and updates
caches areas for streaming and download.
This scenario aims for grouping all the OLIB function server side activities in preparation of
the images publishing towards the users.
6.12.3.2 True Colour Images Streaming
This operation scenario stands for user navigation activities on the published Sentinel-2 True
Colour Images (TCIs). Triggered by the user interactions (i.e. navigation on a map) on the
TCI Browser (i.e. OLIB client side), the OLIB function streams the required TCIs.
The following steps are identified for this operation scenario:
1) The TCI Browser connects to the OLIB function server side for presentation of
available imagery to the user;
2) The TCI Browser can optionally support the images presentation based on the local
cached images from previous connected sessions;
3) The user through the TCI Browser navigates and visualises the desired map areas.
Accordingly, the OLIB function server side streams the required imagery (e.g. via
JPIP) to the TCI Browser;
4) The TCI Browser caches the received imagery to minimize the imagery requests to
the server side and optionally support “off-line” navigation activities.
6.12.3.3 True Colour Images Download
This operation scenario stands for the Sentinel-2 True Colour Images (TCIs) download by the
user. Derived from the previous operation scenario, the user may request to download the full
resolution TCIs (e.g. via a HMI interaction such as a polygon definition) that have been
previously streamed and currently showed in the TCI Browser.
