Orbit
Unless specifically expressed otherwise, the
terminology “orbit” commonly refers to a specific
Sentinel-2 spacecraft orbit, such that Sentinel-2A and
Sentinel-2B orbits are unambiguously considered as
distinct orbits.

Quality Indicator
Cal/Val
The Global Reference Image is generated and used
by the PDGS to refine the geometric accuracy of
Sentinel-2 product. It consists in a set of Sentinel-2
mono-spectral Level-1B products covering all land
regions within the acquisition plan.
Mean to provide the user of a dataset the required
information to assess its suitability for a certain
use/application
Calibration is defined as the process of quantitatively
defining the system responses to known and
controlled signal inputs.
Validation as the process of assessing, by
independent means, the quality of the data products
derived from the system outputs.
The Calibration and Validation (Cal/Val) is the
process of updating and validating the on-board and
on-ground sensor and algorithmic parameters in order
to meet product data quality requirements.
