page 214 of 350
○ Input interface to the AI function for the file based configuration (e.g. data retention
policies, data circulation rules, etc.) provided by the MCC function (e.g. distributed
archived with different data retention policies);
○ Input and output data circulation performed through the DC function;
○ Input and output interface for the PDIs gathering and supply (archival and retrieval)
with the DPC function in support of the PDGS processing activities;
○ Output interface for the “archive reports” supply via the DC function to the DAX and the
MPA functions that summarizes archive / removal / update activities of every
distributed archive;
○ Query interface on the archive content for data discovery purposes (e.g. network
interface);
○ Output interface for archived PDIs supply towards the DAG function in support of the
PDGS data-access activities;
○ Archived data and metadata configurable import/export interfaces;
○ Input and Output Interfaces to the LTA service function (i.e. systematic circulation to
the LTA service function and on-request data retrieval from the LTA service function);
○ M&C interface for status monitoring;
5.2.3.7 Long-Term Archive (LTA) Service Function
5.2.3.7.1 Function Objectives and High-Level Description
The PDGS LTA service is responsible for ensuring long-term data preservation of Sentinel-2
data, including product and auxiliary data.
As such, it is in charge of:
○ Archiving the MSI Product Data Items and auxiliary data provided by the AI function
for LTA management;
○ Restoring the MSI Product Data Items and auxiliary data on request to the AI function;
○ Providing bulk data re-processing capabilities on the locally archived dataset.
5.2.3.7.2 Design Drivers and Constraints
The following drivers and constraints are identified:
○ Maximum reuse of European existing infrastructures;
○ Service provider reliability;
5.2.3.7.3 Function Interfaces
The following interfaces are identified for the LTA service:
○ Input interface to receive PDI and auxiliary data from the AI function from remote
centres;
