GSC Sentinel-2 PDGS OCD
6.1.2 OPERATION SCENARIOS
6.1.2.1 Data Reception Configuration
This scenario accounts for the operator-driven configuration of the DRX function in a CGS
according to the Sentinel-2 specific needs.
The following steps are identified for this operation scenario:
1) The configuration of the physical locations in geodetic position and altitude of all X-
Band LEO tracking antennas or Ka-Band GEO pointing antennas enabled for receiving
the Sentinel-2 satellites;
2) The ground station and antennas masks configuration is provided to the MCC function.
Such configuration will be later on used by the MPL function for the mission planning
activities (cf. section 6.15);
3) The configuration of the RF signal acquisition, including the downlink frequencies and
signal levels according to the Sentinel-2 spacecrafts, possibly differently per Sentinel-2
spacecraft;
4) The configuration of the front-end data-handling operations (e.g. the virtual channels
identification);
5) Data archiving configuration including:
o The mapping of VCIDs into the archive files (all packets from the same virtual
channel grouped in a single ordered stream as per data transmission
constraint). The map is done according to the Sentinel-2 VCID map per
spacecraft
o Maximum dimension of the archive folder per pass (containing all archived
files). An adequate maximum dimensioning will be needed to preserve the
retrieval performances
o The data retention time in the archive
6) Data distribution configuration, including:
o The front-end processing unit selected for nominal real-time data-supply among
the two hot redundant items;
o The network distribution rules to data consumers for data supply. This will be
configured under the form of a routing table associating sink network addresses
to the source data discriminating S/C-ID, VCID, and APID identifiers e.g.
{netaddr X; enabled; S2A; VC 4; AP-x}.
7) Monitoring and Control reporting configuration, including:
o The list of parameters to be inserted in the reports (e.g. Mission, frames
ingested, RS corrected frames, RS un-correctable frames, carrier input level,
etc.). According to a well-defined ICD, Data reception reports will be customised
for usage by the MPA function for assessment of the data reception
performance
