4.4.2 USER PRODUCT CONCEPT
To optimally answer to Sentinel-2 user needs mostly targeting the regional or continental
mapping of specific areas of interest, the PDGS will be optimised for the delivery of “User-
Products” corresponding to:
○ A user-defined geographical subset from their parent “Orbit-Product” compiling only
the required granules covering the area along the orbit;
○ A user-defined selection of the embedded product components (e.g. spectral bands,
metadata, etc) and of the product packaging format from available options.
Figure 4-11 illustrates this concept where the user-product aggregates entire granules
corresponding to the user-defined selection criteria.
The parent “Orbit-Product” being a particular case of a “User-Product” exhaustively
embedding all granules of a given orbit and all product components, the simplified
terminology “product” will commonly refer to a “User-Product” for Sentinel-2 MSI data.
A Preview Image (PVI) file will optionally be packaged in each product based on the defined
user-area.
