GSC Sentinel-2 PDGS OCD
Issue 1 Revision 2 (draft) - 25.07.2010
page 263 of 350
3) The files are autonomously copied into the media volumes. The operator is alerted for
media volume replacement when current one is filled-up and a new empty one is
required;
4) The media volumes are sent to the destination data circulation function by mail courier;
5) Operator connects / inserts received media volumes that activate the circulation
actions. Then files are retrieved from media volumes;
6) The retrieved files are placed in target interface exchange in-trays according to the
configured data circulation rules.
Some use cases are presented according to this operation scenario when no data availability
timeliness constraints are declared:
○ CGS light configuration with poor data repatriation capabilities may rely on the media
circulation for the level-0 data supply to the PACs;
○ Archive-to-Archive data circulation via media to fill-up a collaborative centre.
6.6 Auxiliary Data Supply (ADS) Operations
6.6.1 PRINCIPLES
The ADS function responsibility is to provision the required auxiliary data to the PDGS for the
products generation activities.
6.6.2 OPERATION CONSTRAINTS
As having a dependency on the different processing activities performed at the PDGS.
Accordingly it inherits the applicable global production timeliness constraints with respect to
every processing activity performed and shall therefore autonomously operate in advance.
6.6.3 OPERATION SCENARIOS
6.6.3.1 Auxiliary Data Supply
This is the only single operation scenario of the ADS function. It accounts for the ADS
function autonomous generation and supply of the PDGS required auxiliary data from
external data-sources (e.g. meteorological data for atmospheric correction activities). ADS
function autonomous generates required auxiliary data and together with the DC function
autonomously makes it available to the applicable PDGS functions and centres via the MCC
function (managed as Mission Reference Files).
The use case of this operation scenario is the generation and supply of the auxiliary data
available from external sources such as:
○ IERS UT1-UTC time correlation data required for the L1 processing activities;
○ ECMWF meteo data to be embedded in the Level-1 products;
