6.5.3.2 Electronic Data Circulation
This scenario describes the autonomous data circulation operations performed electronically
(i.e. network connectivity not involving media usage). The electronic data circulation
operations are performed systematically and automatically. They are triggered by a polling
frequency on the source interface and performed autonomously without any operator
intervention.
The following steps are identified for this operation scenario:
1) The DC function retrieves autonomously from the configured source interface new files
according to the data circulation rules. If required (data circulation post-retrieval file
transformations configuration), file conversions are applied to the new files;
2) The DC function delivers autonomously retrieved files to the configured target interface
according to the data circulation rules. All completed data circulation operations will be
reported (a data circulation report will be generated for the PDGS/MPA function).
Some use cases are presented according to this operation scenario:
S2HKTM product data circulation from the PDMC to the FOS;
Sentinel-2 products supply for ground link EDRS data circulation. The DC function will
provide to the EDRS ground link gateway products to be circulated making use of
EDRS capabilities;
Between centres data circulation such as the mission reference files circulated from
the applicable interfaces to the Payload Data Management Centre;
Internal data circulation such as the mission reference files circulation in the PDMC
from the MCC function to the RP function.
6.5.3.3 Data Circulation via Media
This scenario describes data circulation operations performed using different media devices
(e.g. LTO, USB HDD, etc.). It will require operator intervention only for the media volumes
management (i.e. media volumes preparation). Nevertheless, the data circulation operations
are performed systematically. They are triggered by new data available in the source
interface and performed autonomously without any operator intervention except for media
volumes handling when required (i.e. media volume full replacement when writing, media
volume already processed replacement when reading). The data circulation involving media
requires presence of the DC function on both sides of the interface.
The following steps are identified for this operation scenario:
1) The operator prepares the interface media volumes (for writing) in the originator DC
function;
2) New files are autonomously gathered from the source interfaces according to the
configured data circulation rules. If required (data circulation post-retrieval file
transformations configuration), file conversions are applied to the applicable files;
