GSC Sentinel-2 PDGS OCD
Issue 1 Revision 2 (draft) - 25.07.2010
GMES-GSEG-EOPG-TN-09-0008
page 212 of 350
○ Summarise the PDI overall essential quality under the form of “quality reports” that will
be included in the product metadata;
○ Authorize or block the PDI for distribution to general users through the flagging of
specific metadata that will be managed by the DAG function;
○ Feed quality information to subsequent short to long term quality assessment activities
performed by the MPA function.
Identically to the IDP function, OLQC functionality is triggered and globally managed through
the DPC function for data input/output, commanding and control.
The OLQC function performs the quality checks defined in the Product Definition Document
[RD-07].
5.2.3.5.2 Design Drivers and Constraints
The following drivers and constraints are identified:
○ High reliability of performed QC activities;
○ Minimize timeliness penalties of performed QC checks;
○ Flexibility and adaptability to cope with different QC checks configurations;
5.2.3.5.3 Function Interfaces
The following function interfaces are identified for the OLQC:
○ DPC function commanding & control interface for the OLQC execution management;
○ Input interface for required data-supply for quality control activities vis-à-vis the DPC
function;
○ Output interface for generated quality information supply vis-à-vis the DPC function
(e.g. quality reports);
○ The M&C interface for status monitoring;
5.2.3.6 Archive & Inventory (AI) Function
5.2.3.6.1 Function Objectives and High-Level Description
The PDGS AI function is responsible for archiving the Sentinel-2 mission products (science
and HTKM products) and the associated auxiliary data in an effective manner. Accordingly
the MSI science products components are structured and archived as Product Data Items
(PDI) with the related satellite ancillary and auxiliary data required for their processing.
As such, it is in charge of:
○ Autonomously archiving and inventorying the PDGS generated production and related
ancillary and auxiliary data;
○ Maintaining a consistent record of all the locally stored product units with their
associated metadata;
