○ The POM operation interface for triggering the engineering phases of new
collaboration, the fine-tuning of existing one and regular reporting on all collaboration
activities.
5.2.5 DATA COMMUNICATION FUNCTIONS
5.2.5.1 Local Area Network (LAN) Function
5.2.5.1.1 Function Objectives and High-Level Description
The LAN function is responsible for providing all ICT communication means necessary to
connect all systems together (e.g. servers, operator consoles) residing within the same
centre.
5.2.5.1.2 Design Drivers and Constraints
The supporting LAN shall:
○ Be scalable;
○ Support the requested communications performance,
○ Provide the necessary availability figure to achieve the overall expected value
○ Guarantee the security of all internal digital data, communications, and systems by:
o preventing unauthorised access or usage,
o preserving integrity of exchanged and stored data,
o preserving systems and service availability
○ Support 100/1000 Base T interfaces and 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces for special
cases (in compliancy with the current Ethernet standard IEEE 802.3-2008)
○ Support the standard TCP/IP protocol suite
○ Rely on commercial-of-the-shelf devices (COTS) compliant with the above standards.
All systems to be connected to the LAN shall be equipped with the proper network interfaces
(IEEE 802.3-2008).
5.2.5.1.3 Function Interfaces
The following interfaces are identified:
○ TCP/IP interfaces towards all supported systems at each centre;
○ TCP/IP interfaces towards the DCN and/or DDN (interconnection gateway) at each
centre;
○ M&C interfaces;
