GSC Sentinel-2 PDGS OCD
Issue 1 Revision 2 (draft) - 25.07.2010
GMES-GSEG-EOPG-TN-09-0008
page 239 of 350
It features a data reception chain (DRX), and a minimum processing chain (DPC, OLQC and
AI) comprehensively generating the Level-0 data, performing systematic quality control
checks and storing the data in a rolling archive. The generated PDIs (Level-0 data and OLQC
QIs) are systematically circulated downstream (DC) for higher level processing in other
centres.
From this basic configuration, the full CGS is provided with processing capabilities to
generate higher-level products and data-access capabilities to publish its production via to the
Data-Access network as depicted on Figure 5-4.
It features a data-reception chain (DRX), and a fully configured processing chain (DPC, IDP,
OLQC and AI) comprehensively generating the Level-0 data and all product higher-levels in a
systematic manner. Systematic quality control checks are performed and the generated data
is stored in the station rolling archive. The generated PDIs (Level-0, IDP, and OLQC) are
circulated (DC) following the configured circulation rules (e.g. to long-term archives). The
station participated to the federated data-access network by publishing a data-access
gateway server (DAG) to all its production.
5.3.2.2 Processing/Archiving Centres (PAC)
The PAC is a generic data-centre providing processing and/or data-access capabilities. It is
used to support medium term archiving and publishing with either or all of the following
additional roles:
○ Medium term Data processing and reprocessing. In particular, the nominal data
processing from the Level-0 supply of a basic CGS would be supported by a PAC;
○ LTDP role, including long-term archiving and bulk data reprocessing.
○ Backup maintenance of the overall data access index of all PDGS distributed archives.
It features all functions related to archive data management and publishing (AI, DAG and
DC). According to its additional role, it optionally features:
○ A fully configured processing chain (DPC, IDP, and OLQC);
○ The interfaces to a collocated LTA service function;
○ A DAX function in backup of the primary one operated in the PDMC (cf. 5.3.2.4)
This PAC configuration is depicted on Figure 5-5, showing optional components in light
square boxes.
