Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Literary and Visual Studies ><br />

Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Rel<strong>at</strong>ions ><br />

FILM EMPHASIS<br />

I. N<strong>at</strong>ional and ethnic liter<strong>at</strong>ures (three courses).<br />

<strong>The</strong> student must take three liter<strong>at</strong>ure courses,<br />

two in the primary culture area and one in the<br />

secondary area.<br />

II. Film (five courses). <strong>The</strong> student must take five<br />

courses in film, normally including one in the<br />

primary cultural area and another in the secondary<br />

area. <strong>The</strong> student may substitute, for one of the five<br />

courses, a course in visual arts or a studio course in<br />

some domain of filmmaking (screenwriting,<br />

directing, acting, etc.) (chosen from the course lists<br />

on http://ase.tufts.edu/grall/ILVS/requirements.asp).<br />

III. Cross-cultural and/or gender-oriented<br />

literary or visual studies (two courses). <strong>The</strong> student<br />

must take two courses of a cross-cultural or<br />

gender-oriented n<strong>at</strong>ure in a literary or visual art, or<br />

from film and visual arts courses (chosen from<br />

course lists on http://ase.tufts.edu/grall/ILVS/<br />

requirements.asp).<br />

IV. Film theory and cultural theory (two courses).<br />

<strong>The</strong> student must take one course in film theory<br />

plus one course in cultural theory (chosen from<br />

course lists on http://ase.tufts.edu/grall/ILVS/<br />

requirements.asp).<br />

VISUAL STUDIES EMPHASIS<br />
